Their best record was 63-19. If they pass that aren't you kinda forced to give him Coty?

He should win it every year. Only Thibs is close.

But if he wins it he'll get fired.

Spoelstra was in a similar situation last year. 27 win streak and Heat franchise record of 66 wins.

Pop would break 70 with that Miami team.

Popovich deserves coach of the year by a decent margin. Thibs and Hornacek are 2/3.

The best coach doesnt win COTY.

COTY is for coaches who's teams are inexplicably outperforming expectations.

Damn, when was the last time a team won 30+ games on the road in a season? Spurs are currently at 29-8. Miami won 29 last year despite having 66 wins.

Who would have expected the Spurs to be on pace to their best record in franchise history after last year?

No, because Spurs have been good for a long time already.

Hornacek will get the CotY.

Last year or 2012 maybe, but not this season. 3 straight Finals appearances is gruesome to a teams's health, and it's crazy if they do it again this year.

But having Pop institute a system on this team would be amazing. Imagine the movement, the passing.

Nope. They'll give it to whoever is coaching the Raptors nowadays.

I think he deserves it. But Pop has been the best coach in the NBA since Phil stopped coaching. I would say the raptors or the suns maybe.

Pop has had the same core and that system in place for a while.

Hornacek had to implement his system in one offseason with a team of new guys.
