View Full Version : Teams of the future
Who are the teams of the future? Looking at young talent, financial flexibility, and potential draft potential, who are the teams you can see competing for HCA in the next 5 years?
Barring free agents, because nobody knows where who will go, the Magic come to mind off the top of my head. The Suns perhaps, but they ruined it their chances at a good draft pick this season.
And the Sixers. Nerlens coming in next season, two top 10 picks this year, and MCW and pretty much unlimited cap space is a recipe for success down the road.

Right now I would say Magic and Sixers but it all depends on next draft. The team who get the better player on this loaded class may be set for future greatness.

Utah could be if their tank job turns into the franchise player they are lacking.

That makes it sound like you're saying they suck and the Spurs being great will always be in the distant future. That, or they are always good, which would make them the team of the present.

I can't stand the "team of the future" thing. How are any of the teams listed supposed to pass a team like OKC? OKC should keep getting better as well. Plus the Miami, or new Yorks or wherever lebron and other big stars are at

Phoenix - hayward, if they can get him on a reasonable contract, would fit well with this team. imagine having 3 players in the starting line up that can all be playmakers or scorers. If gay opts out of his contract, the suns should possibly look at him if he can continue looking for his shot 5-15 ft from the hoop and cut down on the iso's
Kings - i want them to be a team of the future, but theyre still a mess, despite what their fans envisioned for them at the start of the season. With Pizza Guy out, Macullum has finally gotten burn, and produced (against not so good competition) but with their current schedule to finish up the year, hes get some minutes against some quality perimeter players. M16 finally seems to have built up some confidence. hopefully his sophmore year help sac fans forget about this abysmal season for him.
Orlando - great young pieces, high draft pick, but bad rotations. maybe they need a new coach, maybe not. but they have the pieces. Dipo, whether he pans out as a 1 or 2, harris and vuc. O quinn and harkless are also good role players with a bright future.

Hopefully those picks and cap space work out. Not exactly the best core to build around to be the team of the future.

Mcdermott would be a great pick for Phoenix IMO.

You mean like the Jazz with Hayward, Burks and Burke? Jazz aren't letting him go unless someone gives him an unreasonable contract.

No mention of the Raptors or do people here believe that their just lucky in the current state of the Eastern Conference and the rest of their core won't peak any further ?

Lol @ no mention of OKC. Y'all know that their 3 main core pieces are still 25 and under rite?
OKC's running this league still for the next 5 or so years.
