Duncan kills him on longevity and intangibles on top of being better defensive anchor but hes a worse scorer.

The only thing Duncan kills him at is having better teammates over his career.

Yeah, because Duncan totally wasn't a better emotional leader or teammate.

Do you really think Duncan would get himself ejected from an elimination game because he was mad?

I love Tim Duncan, but does anyone here seriously believe that Hakeem, in Duncan's place, wouldn't have at least 4 rings right now? Duncan clearly has Hakeem on longevity, so a Hakeem-led Spurs dynasty would not be as good as they are now. But in the best years of 1999-2007? There's no doubt in my mind that Hakeem would've won 4-5 rings.

Jesus thats what i was trying to say but couldnt get it out for some reason.

Duncan is probably a GOAT when it comes to being a better team leader and player.

Its definetly possible but i can see Duncan winnin in 94 and 95 on Houston as well.

It's possible, but unlikely. Hakeem peaked slightly later than usual. In 94 and 95 Hakeem was 31 and 32. In those two years he averaged 27.6/11.4/3.6/3.5/1.7 on 52/31/74 shooting (56 TS% and 25.6 PER). Duncan at age 31 and 32 averaged 19.3/11.0/3.2/1.8/0.6 on 50/--/71 shooting (55 TS% and 24.4 PER).

There's too much to predict though. Duncan was different offensively, so the Rockets would have built differently around him. Even though 94 and 95 would be incredibly tough, I think Duncan could win a few rings in the 80s with a different Rockets team.

I'm going to give you the unbiased truth. Other than MJ, for three years Hakeem was the 2nd best player of the last 30 years. His peak was unreal.. Hakeem was basically a more athletic version of Timmy. But Timmy's overall resume is alot better.

Shaq: 4 rings with Penny, Kobe and Wade (with Wade being significantly better, on both ends of the floor)

Duncan: 4 rings with aging Robinson, Parker and Manu. Oh, and the system.

Yeah, Shaq >> Duncan

Duncan 4 rings 3 fmvp 2 mvp
shaq 4 rings 3 fmvp 1 mvp

difference is duncan played defense
shaq being better on offense but duncan can ball both ends

Hakeem isnt better that Duncan and any GM who would take him over Duncan is an idiot. Duncan guarantees you 50 wins essentially.

Losers talking about a system, Duncan is the system.

Hakeem overrated as fukc on this board.

Hakeem i think was a better overall basketball player, specifically at his peak.... but Duncan has a bit more accolades in his resume hence will inevitably be ranked higher on most of the fans ranking lists...

Get real, Shaq's peak destroys Duncan's. Shaq was a 29/12 player by the time he was 22.

Dream/Duncan is closer, but I give the edge to Dream because his 91-92 to 95-96 seasons were that damn good.

2011 Spurs = 61 wins with Duncan averaging 13/8. They're about to break their franchise record for wins with Duncan averaging a pedestrian 15/10.

Yeah, he's the system. Sure thing.

I'll take the Dream any day over Timmy. Duncan has a better resume but that's because he has better team mates and a great coach and he didn't play in Jordan's era and the 80's unlike Hakeem.

And prime Ray Allen would have prob won three rings with prime Shaq. So should we just give Ray three extra rings in addition to the ones he has and say he is = Kobe?

Duncan. He didn't have the pretty post moves that make Hakeem overrated (compared to Duncan) but Duncan is just as effective.

Hakeems's got more eye popping stats, though. Peak Hakeem > Peak Duncan but Prime Duncan > Prime Hakeem, and Duncan has a GOAT-length prime up there with KAJ.

I don't know about that. Kareem won an MVP in his 11th season, his 6th. Duncan hasn't been a legit MVP candidate since 2005.

Hell, Dream in his 13th season had a 23/9 season. Duncan's last 20ppg season was 7 years ago.

Pretty much. Hakeem was more dominant than TD at everything except passing and maybe intangibles.

Anyone quoting accolades, how many do you think Duncan wins in the Golden era? No rings, no MVPs, no DPOYs.

Now imagine how Hakeem would dominate today's weak NBA with no quality big man to speak of? He would get MVP pretty much every year, along with a default DPOY award. Give him excellent Spurs organization with Pop, and we are looking into 4-5 rings at very least.
