He currently has the 16th most defensive rebounds of all time, will probably retire within the top 10.

No we're gonna act like he was always this clutch gawd and didnt choke away 2006,67 game win season to 8th seed as MVP,

We're gonna act like he "vanquished,and triumphed over the evil,dark,bad Heat"

Nobody loved Dirk or was much of a Dirk fan,In fact he was called a career choker,known as a soft jump shooting big
but bc he beat the Heat---boom crapload of Mavs and Dirk fans rewriting history

Hell theres now even more spurs fans,What is the one constant hmm?

Even now theres here and in media a lot of Pacer fans now.

Not by me. He had some very impressive series that were lost by crappy teammates. But I guess for ISH fans it's mostly either "GOAT" or "choking scrub" with not much in between. Balanced judgements? Not here. Not by all those casual highlight reel watchers.

Dirk lost series where he averaged 34/11 (vs Denver in 09), 27/12 (vs NO in 08), 26/11 (vs Phoenix in 05), 25/11 (vs Sacramento in 02). That's not what "choking" looks like.

And people rail on me for always defending Dirk and the Mavs...LOL

This is what people think...they think a career 26/10/3 58.4% TS player that led his teams to 11 straight 50 win seasons...all while being one of the best elimination game and game 7 players of all time...

Is a one trick pony because of the 11 run...

I don't understand posts like this. I see them all the time. Who cares what people thought? We should care about reality.

Perception and narrative do not dictate what is actually happening in reality.

I don't care if people thought the Mavs sucked or that Dirk was a choker. He wasn't...and there is a ton of evidence for this pre 2011.

Do chokers go undefeated (5-0) in game 7's while dominating? Do they have some of the best elimination game stats ever?

Does a choking team have the best record in close games for like an 8 year stretch?

Does a choker get better in the playoffs against better competition like Dirk did?

Who cares what the ****ing moronic masses that are slaves to whatever ESPN tells them thought...

It's the same shit I hear often about how much help Dirk has had and how good his teams have been etc....

Yet look at the numbers...those teams have been awful without Dirk. They have a -3.6 scoring differential since 01. And that is actually even worse because the Mavs never bottomed out...so you might see differentials that bad by some players that had terrible teams for a few years or something, but not with the Mavs...we've been pretty good to great each year since 01.

Is that a sign of a great team that doesn't have star power outside of Dirk and is built on depth? If those guys were so good all those years on the Mavs...why the **** did they get their shit run everytime Dirk went to the bench or missed a few games?

LOL...yea what a choker.

I'm looking for it now, but there is an article about how the Mavs had the best record from like 05 through 11 in close games and had the 2nd best offense iirc in crunch time during that time as well...

Edit;

Found it;

It was an incredible ending to a great game, but it was nothing new for Paul and the Hornets. Since he was drafted in 2005, New Orleans is 80-44 in games decided by five points or less. The Dallas Mavericks (90-40) have been slightly better than the Hornets, but the Mavs' record in close games is in line with their overall winning percentage. The Hornets' is not.

and hes averaging 25ppg over the last 5 and 23.5ppg over the last 10... which means that if he keeps up some kind of 24ish pace over the remaining 5 games he could end up around 26.800 ... thats some serious number!

man, I dunno

they still have to play the Spurs, Suns, and @Grizz.

that @Utah game is no gimmie either b/c the Mavs have a bad habit of playing down to their competition. Utah also got embarrassed tonight so I expect them to play really hard on Tuesday.
