Steve Utash, a tree trimmer from Roseville, is a good guy, the kind who cares about others and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, his daughter says.

Thursday night, his family was keeping vigil at St. John Hospital and Medical Center, where he was unconscious and clinging to life after being beaten by a group of men on Detroit’s east side Wednesday. The attack happened after his pickup truck hit 10-year-old nu David Harris, who stepped off a curb into its path.

The child did not suffer any broken bones and will be okay. The driver, meanwhile, is still unconscious. Also, he was robbed.

Not a good look for Detroit.

Decent point but I think employment would be the biggest issue and I'm not sure if the gov't can randomly just create jobs in Detroit. Maybe start programs for companies to have locations in Detroit and give them major tax breaks(probably exists). Detroit fell after the auto industry fell in the city.

But yeah if there's no employment than it doesn't matter how much the gov't puts in.

There was no 'National outrage' over James Craig Anderson(Black male/49) who was killed by a White mob in Jackson Ms. A couple years back neither(2011).

Contrary to what other ignorant believe & whine ; there was no Jesse, No Sharpton, No protest, etc.... Over Andersons death & it's ridiculous when people jump to silly conclusions. Matter of fact Andersons family spoke out against the Death Penalty for the main assailant.


James Craig Anderson's killers were arrested just as the idiots who attacked this guy will be justifiably arrested as well. End of damn story.

These cases are similar & have absolutely nothing to do with the vastly
different/unique Trayvon Martin case(no arrest initially & internet movement).

I remember being very upset by that story, actually. The man was just leaving his work shift and was randomly targeted for his race and attacked and killed by a sociopathic animal. It was a horrible and heartbreaking story. I remember it very well, and how stunned and saddened I was that such bold cruelty still existed among some people out there. But unfortunately its just a cold and brutal reality that the human species isnt perfect and some people are defective and sociopathic.

But in that particular case, the person responsible was captured and brought to justice. So theres just not much more the public can do. It was a terrible situation, but as far as I know it was handled properly by the authorities involved.
