Kentucky's recruiters must be doing overtime year in and year out. I don't understand how they're able to bring in so many quality players every year. There has to be some shady shit going on no?

That Harrison twin, Aaron Harrison, may be clutch but he's such an average player. Not even that good. I wouldn't be surprised if he was drafted in the mid 2nd round.
There are gonna be a lot of busts then. Nobody was impressive.

Shady like paying the players/affording them illegal benefits....????
Nooooooooo.
Never.
Randle, Young, and WCS will be the only ones who jump.
The twins will stay another year.

They get instant playing time if they're good enough.
They are in the hunt for a title every year.
Big Blue Nation is the best CBB fan base in the country.
Their facilities are the best in the country (with a practice facility more costly than most schools arenas)
They meet celebrities like Jay Z, Drake (who was in the locker room tonight), Lebron (who was the Y at a UK game two years ago).
Why would you need to do anything shady to get lure them to play? Randle's mom left the Michigan game early to catch a flight back home so she could make it to work.
Nothing shady is needed.

Why stay if they win the tourney though? Simply because their draft stock isn't that high?

Cal been getting away with sh!t for years. He's def offering some kind of extra Benefits.

They're 6'6".
Aaron is shooting somewhere around 45% from 3pt land in the tournament, but is only a mid 30's shooter for the season. If he comes back next year and shoots 42% for the season, he's automatically a lottery pick in the 2015 draft as opposed to a late first rounder in the 2014 draft.
If Andrew comes back and works on his decision making, and can show a consistent ability to knock down the outside shot, he goes to a near lottery pick in the 2015 draft, as opposed to a fringe first rounder in the 2014 draft.
One year to make another run with another talented group + 3million per year next season > jumping to the NBA this year and making 4.5 million for 4 years on a late first round contract.

I think Cal is such a successful recruiter because he doesn't bullshit. He probably tells these kids that he'll do everything he can to get them in the NBA as soon as possible, period. I'm sure places like Duke preach education and developing as a player, etc... when all these top prospects really care about is getting into the NBA and getting paid.

If they were drafted late in the first round, they'd actually be paid less than they are now so that makes zero sense for them.

nahhhhh, they're just a stand up organization, man. How can you say something bad about a guy like Cal? You must be one of those haters that can't cope with the success Kentucky is having.

Yeah he offers his kids a chance at a title and getting picked high in the draft. Every star gets benefits with whatever school he chooses. I don't think he has to do anything over the top to get kids to come to Kentucky of all schoolz

Welcome to NCAA Division 1 recruitment for the last 30+ years.

UConn wasn't even eligible for the tournament last year because their grades were so bad, and may not be eligible next season.
UNC has been handing out fake degrees for fake classes for the past 8 years or so, nobody cares.
But you better believe if UK has one kid not pass a class, it'd be all over ESPN. Fact is, several of the players are straight A students (they were in high school as well) and the twins both got low 30's on their ACTs.
The best and brightest come to UK because those who dont, end up like Shabazz (who was the next Lebron) or Wiggins and Jabari (bounced out of the first round).
Why be shady when you can have whoever you want?

speaking of kentucky... i am curious how marcus lee develops. I hope he stays 1 more year to develop as a starter then test his waters in the draft. His vertical is pretty good, a monster dunker, and atrocious on defense.

Laugh if you want, but their dad is a career military man.
If you can give me one thing that another school does better than UK, I will agree maybe its shady.
But the fact is they have the best facilities, best fans, best luxuries (their own dorms, private chefs, plane), and a shot at winning a ship every year. Not one other school can offer that.
Truth hurts.

Dude has the highest vertical on the team.
He was a 4* player I believe. A physical freak. If he develops a jump shot and learns to play a little under control (understandable, he has hardly seen the floor this season) think Davis 2.0.
He may not even be second string next year, so you may be waiting a while.

He'll never be near Anthony Davis' level. He's got some nice tools but he's more a Jeremy Evans/Tyrus Thomas type of player. Very athletic, good for some offensive rebounds, easy dunks around the hoop, and a few blocked shots but not much more.
After Randle, Dakarri Johnson has the highest (long term) ceiling. WCS, Young, and Poythress are the next most NBA ready guys although Poythress has been invisible most of the season. Harrison twins need a few more years in school although I like Aaron's game a bit more.
If I was drafting today, I'd take them in this order...
1. Randle
2. WCS
3. Young
4. Johnson
5. Poythress
6. Aaron
7. Andrew
8. Lee

Didn't their entire starting lineup go in the first round a few years ago. Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe, Jones, etc.

I agree I think most of these guys (probably all of them) will be busts or not be anything special and sit on someone's bench for a few years and be out of the league. They are not impressive. Good athletes, but not NBA ready or exceptional talent.

Different years.
Wall (#1), Cousins (#5), Patterson (#14), Bledsoe (#18), Orton (#29) were drafted in 2010.
Jonas was on the Brandon Knight team, but stayed a second year and went on to win a championship in 2012 with Davis, MKG, Marquis Teague, and Doron Lamb.

Wall, Cousins, and Bledsoe weren't on the same team as Terrence Jones. Terrence Jones was a freshman in 2012 and stayed for two years. I still think that 2010 was every bit as talented, if not more so, than the 2012 team that won it all. The 2010 team had Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe, Patrick Patterson, Daniel Orton, DeAndre Liggins, Darius Miller, and Josh Harrellson. Granted Harrellson was a little used freshman or sophomore, but the top end talent on that team was on par with his 2012 squad, if not better. But that team, in a year where a pretty "meh" Duke team beat a mid-major in the national championship, lost in the Elite 8. I'm still a little confused by that one. The 2010 team had five players drafted in the 1st round. The 2012 team, the team that won it all. They had four first round selections: Davis, MKG, Terrence Jones, and Marquis Teague.
This team has quite a few pros on it (not sure how many will last very long) but I'd say it's Calipari's third most talented team since he's been at Kentucky.

Like I said earlier, Randle and Young are for sure gone, WCS may go (believe he's a late lottery pick), but the twins will stay.
With the class UK has coming in next year, they will likely start 5 5* players and have 4-5 5* and 4* players off the bench next season. Next season's team may be better than this season's team.
Karl Towns Jr. will probably be an instant starter. Played on the DR National team, 7' PF with volleyball line three point range. Him and Dakari playing together will be unstoppable.

Lamb is out of the league already. MKG looks like a bust. Once Teague got paid he stopped playing really hard. Orton out of the league. Bledsoe is good but injury prone. Knight is nothing special. This new group (2014) will not be as successful in the NBA as these other guys you just mentioned.

They couldn't shoot. WVU ran a 1-3-1 on them and they ended up jacking up more three's in that game than any game they had all season. Something like 3-21 from the 3pt line.

Lamb had no athleticism.
Teague jumped to the NBA because his family needed the money and his dad was in jail.
Orton jumped to the NBA because his dad told him he was better than Demarcus Cousins and that Calipari should have started him instead (:facepalm ).
Knight is a legit second option. I think half of the teams in the league would like to have him.

Lamb ain't out of the league. I would not be aware of that if I didn't watch the Magic last night. Dunno his statline but he looked solid in the brief moments I saw.

Teague had a brother in league when he declared. Money wasn't the objective. He left because his stock had peaked. Bledsoe was one who needed to take care of his family. He lived out of a car in HS.
