This has been said every year by one team or another in the Eastern Conference since 2011. The Heat were 1-3 against the Celtics and 0-3 against the Bulls in '11 (beat them both handily). They were 1-3 against the Celtics in '12 (won without much trouble once Bosh could play sustained minutes). They were 1-2 against the Pacers last season also. Having a winning record against a team doesn't really mean all that much when you get to the Conference Finals and it most likely won't matter much this season.

This was also one of the more pathetic displays of basketball all season by a supposed contender. How does a team play 24 minutes and only rack up a single assist.

Possible tied record then, unless all 3 assists in all those games came in one half. I find it impossibly difficult to think a team could go a half with zero assists.

Boston beat the Lakers, 105 - 93.
Boston beat the Bullets, 109 - 95.
Chicago beat the Royals, 105 - 104.
Celtics beat the Knicks, 100-94.

So we aren't dealing with low scoring games either. That has to be a tied record...

they need that homecourt advantage against the heat. the 1 seed this year will face a "harder" road but at the end of the day they need that home court advantage against the heat. if it goes to 7 games again i'm sure they'd rather play it home rather than away.

That was a meltdown ? They still won a title and were pretty much always favoured despite them not always blowing teams out. People are questioning whether this Pacers team can even get out of the 1st round.

Also, at least Pierce, Allen, and Garnett had a competent offensive game. Right now, every Pacer struggles to have consistent offense.

I don't know what to make off this really. They look tired, worn down, and just about done. However, everyone but the Spurs has bad stretches in the regular season(even heat.) i doubt the raptors, bobcats, wizards, or hawks can outlast the pacers in a 7-game series. at that point you will see why those teams are bottom-feeders when they are forced to play consistent half-court offense.

but even still, frank vogel's ball-stopping offense is what is really killing this team. he's a mediocre defensive coach and a terrible offensive one.

they have no offensive rhythm, and what's worse is that this team doesn't have the personnel for consistent 3-point shooters which means we're looking at ill-advised 2-pointers and drives to the basket which teams can stop quite easily.

they hang their hat on their defense which theoretically should never take a day off but you need consistent offense to bail out your defense too.

I don't really see how "tanking" for a 2nd seed makes any sense, if that's true. The Pacers are in for a rude awakening if they think going against the Cats/Wizards or Raptors is any easier. Cats rank #6, Raptors rank # 8, and Wizards rank #10 in defense. Raptors are the only one of the group that has a Top 10 offense.

The Pacers could potentially try and use their defense to try and wear down the Cats, but how do they stop Jefferson ? The Wizards still have a lot of available post players and have a very potent backcourt. Raptors have the best mix off both offense and defense and are evenly matched with the Pacers.

those bottom-feeders can't even play consistent half-court offense. again, let's not get ridiculous. this is still a 50+ win team against ones that can't even win 40 (or barely so). they dont have the talent or the personnel to match indiana, let alone beat them consistently for 4 games. it's just not going to happen. miami is their only threat but they have to secure hca to beat them unless they can finish them in 5 (not likely).

i doubt the raptors, bobcats, wizards, or hawks can outlast the pacers in a 7-game series. at that point you will see why those teams are bottom-feeders when they are forced to play consistent half-court offense.

The Raptors play the slowest pace amongst the 4 teams you just mentioned. Trying to play a slowed down pace favours our post up big men, where I don't see Hibbert stopping Valanciunas.

Infact, they've struggled to score against us in all 4 matchups. The highest the Pacers scored was 94. The Hawks probably wouldn't last in a 7 game series because they won't have many available bodies. The Cats might be too inexperienced too. Wizards have players on their team who have Finals experience (Ariza, Gortat), who I can definitely see having a top games against the Pacers. Raptors are the least experienced, but certainly won't struggle (at least I'm sure off that for now).

I just don't understand this .. I turn the game on and was expecting at least a competitive game .. down 22 at home to the hawks in the 4th qtr when you're fighting for the #1 seed ? with a game against miami stll to go ? .. fk is going on

those bottom-feeders can't even play consistent half-court offense. again, let's not get ridiculous. this is still a 50+ win team against ones that can't even win 40 (or barely so). they dont have the talent or the personnel to match indiana, let alone beat them consistently for 4 games. it's just not going to happen. miami is their only threat but they have to secure hca to beat them unless they can finish them in 5 (not likely).

I'm not going to speak for the other teams any further (although, I think Washington matches up with them just fine), but your just wrong about the Raptors not matching up with the Pacers, man.

Their a 50+ win team ? Okay, if the Raptors win their remainder games, their a 50+ win team too. So what ? They've been on a much higher pace of wins since they traded Rudy Gay, by the way. I mean, we just seen the Raptors beat the Pacers without 2 of their starters, 1 being their best player (Kyle Lowry) and the other being their best defensive player (Amir Johnson).

And no, I said this in January. Chicago, Toronto, and Washington can certainly be threats to this team too, not just Miami. Miami just has the best overall chance at beating them.

The overreactions here are hilarious.
They've been terrible lately. I think it's fair for posters to react the way that they are.

Man, this was the best home team in the league too. Like I said in fpliii's thread, Granger WAS the leader of this team. I don't see this team being dysfunctional in these last 2 months if he's still on the team.

Should have never traded him.

im sure pacers will play just fine against the heat... its sad how this team is built to play the heat and yet fall apart against everyone else

Thing is that the Pacers stink offensively. But they'll still beat the Heat if they play. Pacers just got the heat number especially when it boils down to match ups.
I just hope they get to the ECF because they'll beat the Heat for sure this year

Only chance the Pacers have of beating Miami 4/7 is if they succeed in suckered Spo and Lebron into playing their BS slow down, defensive games that the Heat love to play too.

Normally the Heat will get suckered into that style for a couple of games, but not enough to lose the series.

Indiana is DONE. If they get out of the first round, I'll be surprised.

Miami's path to the Finals is set.

Yep, this clearly messed with their chemistry. I thought it was a good trade as I thought Turner would fit in, but it hasn't worked so far at all.

Indy is built to beat Miami. They're a completely different team against them. Attitude, aggressiveness, etc. Problem is they still have to beat these "bottom feeders" to get that ECF matchup against Miami. Let's be honest, barring injury, Miami should have zero reason to not make the ECF.
