Serious question, two Asians in this video and BOTH loves school and can't understand why she would be happy to skip school.

And how black people raises their kids to see the police as an enemy.

Because asians can't be athletes, or porn stars.

1. 99% of asians aren't athletic
2. 99% of asian women dont look good and the guys have really small cucumbers

I guess they just want their kids to be successful, lol

Nobody loves school

The Asians in this video seems to like it. Im seriously just looking for their secret because in my school practically everyone hated it or couldn't wait for weekends and breaks.

brainwashing from their parents
One can argue that any parent trying to raise their child to do what they think is right or wrong is brainwashing.

The sad part is, we haven't begun majorly genetic engineering children yet. I fear that time might come soon.

So many different ends of the spectrum here. ON your side you mention what I quoted, on the other side someone calls it brainwashing.

Exactly, every child is born as a blank slate and we as parents are the biggest influence on them in the early stages of their upbringing.

Asians in a video = whole population. Good job.

if you're good at something, you're probably going to like it. Most people who graduate top of class probably like school or their studies.

asian parents are notoriously pushy getting their kids into things(school, tutors, violin, piano, etc), strict, and where they're from have much longer schooling hours than we do i believe. many also teach their kids at home to get ahead of thier classmates. they're generally just real serious about their kids doing well in school or paying for their kids to go to private schools and stuff.

I don't know if you took offense to what I wrote, most of the time I write here im 10% serious and 90% bored.

With that said, i actually admire them and in general you are more likely to find an Asian with a taste for school and studying than any other race and I just thought it shined through in this video with two little kids with no agenda, no nothing just speaking their mind. In contrast you see most of the other kids showing distaste for school.

It is not a great sample size and I do get ur point but it just something that I found interesting.

It is because the society (asian society) embraces the value. If your parents, uncles, friends, friends parents, pastor, bball coach, etc ALL feel that school is important a kid will also most likely go down the same route of beliefs. Kids draw their principles from the people around them.

At the same time, I don't think asian kids love school. I teach in South Korea and kids here are just like kids in the US. Most of them hate having to sit around all day in class and would rather play. However, the difference is that they know from a very young age how important school is.

As a teacher I told the students on a Friday they could have a free day to play games/hang out/etc because they crushed it on their test and we were well ahead of the schedule and other classes. As a class (like basically every kid), they complained and said they wanted to stay ahead of the other classes and that they wanted to keep studying.

It's competition to them, and most of them like it. Similarly, in the US, being the best basketball player at recess is the most important. It's just a different mentality.

In the US, if a 6th grade "black" kid goes home and says they had a great day with their friends, dominated at hoops at recess, and learned about pharaohs the parents are equally as likely to ask about the hoops as they are about what they learned that day. And that's okay.

My gf is azn. She grew up in S.Korea and was a so-so math student. She went to high school in Louisiana. She got there as a 9th grader and had by far the most math knowledge of anyone in the entire school, including seniors. Her teacher asked her to participate in some math club competition thing but in her head she was into fashion/chilling/etc and didn't even like math. That's the difference - she was a normal student in Asia and a super genius level student in America when it came to studies.

Premise is incorrect...Asians' love/hate for school is just like everybody else.

If kids realized that one day they will have to make it on their own, I think they would feel much differently. We all just want to have fun in the moment.

First of all, learning is fun as fukk. Any human, I dont' care how dull you are, who doesn't derive some sort of pleasure from the epiphanies you get when something clicks in your head, or the feeling of relief when the thirst of your curiosity is quenched by the liquid of knowledge that seeps in your head after you watch a documentary is not a real human.

Second of all, everything is a mental game. Literally, everything. We are creatures with bells and whistles that can be hypntozied or conditioned to like stuff that seemscompletely unnnatural. Why the fuuk do you think there are people that get a perverse pleasure from pain in the BDSM industry? Why do you think there are people who like to complain and vent their lives out. Why do you think there are people of every type who partake in activities seemingly undesirable and painful.

Third of all, they most definitely don't like school but it's got the attraction fo familiarity to it. No one likes their job, but it servse as a safe homebase.

i got an asian buddy who was valedictorian of his high school, went to an ivy league college, very successful, etc.

he told me his parents used to literally lock him in the bathroom with his school books. :oldlol:

They are just heavily involved with their kids' work whereas most american parents leave it to the teachers and the school system.

Asians value success through school.

I find too that asians have a better time concentrating due to social barriers living in North America. They are less distracted. Those are mainly the FOBs though.
I know in my household we got grounded hard if we got anything less than an A. I literally was afraid to go home once because I got a B in science. I tried to change it into and A. Got caught and took a whipping. I also got grounded from basketball too.

well my mom beat my ass as early as elementary school for coming home with 'Unsatisfactory' or C's...well up until HS and i got bigger altho she upgraded to a golf club. none of my American friends went thru remotely anything like that.

she forced tutors and piano on me, hated that shit(altho i sort of regret it now but its easier to say in hindsight). I was a athlete. needless to say my schedule was super tight to the point of school, soccer practice, tutor, and sleep, or piano practice some days.

most of the korean kids i knew were forced into either piano or violin. my brother was forced to go to private school, and almost all of the korean people i knew went to private school. only reason i didn't is my mom knew my friends from public school so she was lenient. my brother hated private school btw. he'd get demerits for not wearing his tie tight, and upper classman can give them to you, or basically can legally bully you. it sounded crazy from what he told me.

my mom was a spazz back then too, so we were scared as shit of her. she's chilled out a lot, but whenever we said something about why she made us do all that she said her friends did the same thing, and even my cousins went thru it where my aunt was even worse than my mom to her kids with that stuff.

people don't know how crazy a lot of azn parents are. i see American parents as extremely lax by and large in comparison with more laid back enjoying themselves lives, where the focus is less so much about work.

Too bad 99% of the male population in general aren't going to be professional athletes or porn stars. I don't even get how those two correlate with education.

And Asians can be athletic aswell :confusedshrug: They seem to do well in certain Olympic sports like gymnastics but I guess slamming a basketball in a net = athleticism?

Because they want their children to be successful. I want my children to love school and learning. I want them to have goals and try to be the best in whatever tasks they partake in. I want them to be better off than me. My father used to tell me to study. I didn't like it because he would pressure me and actually break me down to the point of almost crying. But we weren't supervised since he always worked and my mother was sick. My wife is Asian and she is sometimes tough on our first son and he's only 3 years old. If he doesn't memorize his speech she spanks him. It may seem harsh but it's being discipline and the parents just want a good future for their children.

they love succeeding at school. that's different from loving school itself. in other words, they're raised to put a great deal of importance on succeeding within the dominant system. that's obviously important, it leads to stability and security later in life so the next generation can provide the same for the generation after them. preservation of the species so to speak.

but it isn't everything. the other side of that coin is that they rarely question the system itself and so they don't have the creative outside the box thinking they might have otherwise.

school shouldn't be something we hate. everybody loves learning new things once they wholeheartedly put their mind to actually understanding it instead of just rote or muscle memorization. every person who's stepped out of a womb has had both experiences and knows the difference by intuition. that's what we need to keep in mind when we talk about what school should be.

edit: pretty much what a bunch of others have already said i guess lol

Definitely a huge problem right here.

Overwhelming and demanding massive amounts of mental energies for rote memo.

Even in ISH we can clearly see someone like Rezznor and hateraid who don't seem as intellectual as say, a Jello, or you are well-liked because they seem to have poured in their efforts into socializing and creative pursuits i.e. music (NiN and bbuilding/fun fatherhood)

Well.

FWIW, China just came out with a new movie called Mr and Mrs player. Was actually kinda funny.

Maybe the Westernization will restore a healthy dose of fun and creativity and outside the norm romance.
