As I mentioned in another thread I recently started training. All I'm doing is sprints, pullups, pushups and dips. Nada else. Well, hoops once a week but that is just for fun. Trying to lose 10 pounds (basically all on my sad genetics pot belly).

Anyways, I had my gf time a 50 meter flat out sprint I did today (at the very end of training, my 10th sprint). It's not a straight 50 either; slight curve as it is normally a walking path with meter markers for old people at her apartment complex.

She clocked me in at 7 seconds flat for 50 meters. That extrapolates to a 5.12 40 yard dash. I know timing etc is always an issue so I'm going to try again in a few weeks after continuing to train and I'll videotape it to get a true accurate by the frame time measurement, word to CavFTW Wilt's nonsense.

Anybody else measure their 40 times? My goal is to get sub 5 in 2 months.

Your goal is 5 seconds for 50 meters? that means 10 m/s velocity, that means 36 km/h top speed.

Let me put it this way: Cristiano Ronaldo's top speed is around 38 km/h.

Not trying to discourage you, but I think you will have a hard time sprinting 50 meters in under 5 seconds.

I might be wrong though, as, of course, acceleration plays a big part.

Yeah. Sorry about that.

I thought he meant 50 meters in his last sentence.

I use to run a 5.2 but that was a long time ago. Probably 15, so in my peak I think I can hit mid 4 seconds.

40 yard dash btw.

5.2 is horrible for a 15 year old.

My sophomore year, at age 15, I ran an official 4.71 at Ok State football camp.

No prior training, and I stumbled at the launch.

The people posting their high school 40 times might want to read the article posted by the OP. Or, to save you some time - your high school 40 time is BS.

Wow 4.5's and 4.4's... Some serious athletes here on Ish :coleman:

I ran a 4.88 for my fastest time when I was 15 and that was hand timed (so it obviously wasn't entirely accurate). I bet the fastest I could ever get is 4.7 something even with crazy training. Maybe I could crack high 4.6... but I doubt it.

They lying. They can't run those times. Those times are professional times.

I'm not. It was a hand time and my shoes were off but I'm sure I could get close to that on an official time.

I was like one of the fastest at my HS, it just sucks we didn't have a track team
