Theres not really much I want to do when I leave uni, but this is definitely something I think I would love doing. I love sports, story telling, music, and editing videos so its sort of the perfect choice.

How would a person go about working for a company like WWE, NBA, Boxing, NFL, or whatever else and making promos for them?

FYI, promos are basically trailers but for its the term more used when talking about sports.

For example, this recent Wrestlemania had a couple of great promos, like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPnY2wy-dkQ

So how would someone go about getting a job in this?

You absolutely can do this. You just gotta be willing to move anywhere in the country.

if i were you, I would already start making these promos on your own, put together a portfolio of promos you already did, and market yourself to all the major sports team and even minor league teams. Do a mail blast. Put together a nice press kit, with your resume, your portfolio on a DVD, maybe something pointing to a youtube channel you may have.

The thing is you gotta be willing to produce a lot for free starting out, and then you gotta be dedicated to going anywhere.

Thanks man, that seems realistic in terms of putting together a portfolio and putting yourself out there. Moving around may be difficult though, but I assume that it is something that is unavoidable in the early stages?

While you're still in school, you can start here http://corporate.wwe.com/wwecareers/...NTERNSHIP.html

I'm sure the NFL and other leagues have internships too.

That sounds great bro, but I live in London so I may not be able to undertake a internship. Do you know if they offer you a job after the internship?

Mate you know I live near Middlesex too, damn. Thats definitely interesting, Im not at the position to actually apply for jobs at the moment though, I was thinking more of in the future (next 3 - 5 years).

On that link though it actually asks for a showreel so its seems DukeDelonte was on point about having a portfolio ready.

I would think you also gotta be prepared for the fact that you'll likely only be doing promos for smaller sh*t like the minor leagues or games of local colleges (and nothing cool like UNC bball or Duke bball or Ohio State Football or anything...I'm talking like Greentown Community College or some sh*t), because there are only so many big leagues out there and big schools.

I assume in all art/media professions you need a portfolio. The more varied the better.

Are you already in uni or at college/sixth form?

Please proceed, assholes....

Just another dumb post by budadiiii. Nothing to see.

I knew it wasn't a backhanded compliment, but if I quoted you and said "lol @ the backhanded compliment" then it adds flavor to your mini convo.

itare is well known for making amv's and the first thing people think of when you make animated short films is that you're a ****ing geek. A nerd. Whatever.

For you to make that comment, and for me to respond the way I did, is genius because I created a beef between the two of you out of thin air. :applause:

I am at uni, so still a couple of years before I realistically have to start looking for a job. Might do Masters too.
