Looks like the decline is on

The rest of the stats tell a similar story. His defensive win shares (http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jamesle01.html) are the lowest since his rookie year in Cleveland, when he was 19. His defensive rating (http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jamesle01.html) (a rough estimate (http://www.basketball-reference.com/about/ratings.html) of points allowed) is tied with 2007-08 as the worst he's had. And Real Plus-Minus (http://regressing.deadspin.com/just-what-the-hell-is-real-plus-minus-espns-new-nba-s-1560361469) puts him at 0.21 points per 100 worse than league average.

He's looked clueless out there at times. And yet we still have journalists calling him the DPOY, and no doubt the Bron Stans will want them to give it to him for his "snubs" (:oldlol:) the past two years.

He'll still be all-defense no problem though.

Heat have been horrible defensively as a team.
Lebron :facepalm
As long as his defense shows up in the playoffs like last year.

He's coasting. Anyone who has watched him this year and seriously thinks he is trying his hardest on that end of the floor every night is clueless. He has a bad back and can't afford to go all out on both ends of the floor.

Indeed.
Really though, star players rarely deserve to make the All-Defensive team, aside from the bigs.

I seriously don't think people get or take defense very seriously.
Every LeBron stan will tell you he deserves the DPOY because of his versatility (meaning his ability to guard all five positions). Firstly, he can't. He nearly fouled out when he went up against Garnett, so I couldn't imagine what'd happen if he had to take on a real Center full time. And even if he could, versatility doesn't mean shit. The award should go to the guy who impacts the game the most with his defense, which has never been LeBron (he's never even been the most important defender on his team).
Not hating on LeBron. He's still the best player in the world, but c'mon. The fact that he thinks he's been snubbed twice in a fun is laughable.

I don't understand it. LeBron stans proclaim that the basketball community should not hail Kobe the way we do because advanced metrics don't depict him as a superior producer, yet they are perfectly fine with...no, IMPLORE the opinion...that Bron is an elite defender (this season) and is deserving of candidacy in regards to the DPOY.
Like, huh? When you mention advanced stats then, they cite the "eye-test" that they so vehemently ridicule otherwise, and mention his versatility as if it compensates for a lack of effectiveness. Hey, Shaun Livingston can play the 1-4 on offense, so that must make him a premier offensive talent.
:wtf:
Pick a side folks. Those of you who continuously see-saw through these discussions are just making yourselves out to be the truly subjective fools we know you to be.

It was alright last season. Nowhere close to DPOY level though.

:facepalm Then why is he ALWAYS required to guard the other team's best player at the end of games? People need to think before they write.

Most important isn't always best. You're right people should think before they post. Since you don't think, stop posting.

Then tell me dumbass, who is the Heat's most important defender? If you say Bosh you are even dumber than you sound.

LeBron vowed to acquire the DPOY this year during the off/pre-season.
So, I really doubt he would "coast" his way out of contention for it purposely. Unless, you are suggesting that LeBron's competitive spirit is inferior?
Also, if he is the best defender on his team, why would he "coast," knowing it would undoubtedly place the team in an disadvantageous position and cost them victories?
This whole coasting nonsense is nauseating. We have seem countless champions return the proceeding season, and hardly ever was "coasting" associated with their play. Maybe for an entire team, the whole "flipping the switch" theory that many dominant teams of the past have admitted to abiding by, but never has one singular player been so coddled by the notion that he's "just chilling" every time a bad stretch hits, or an unfavorable statistic arises.
I thought the Kobe stans were the clear cut worse when it came to circle jerking off of a stream of excuses for their idol, but you Bron stans are coming dangerously close :facepalm

Yeah, I don't buy the whole coasting nonsense that some Heat fans are saying about Lebron and the team in general.
The truth of the matter is, they really haven't been that good and have regressed.
This team has 2011 Lakers written all over them.

He hasn't been as dominant offensively either. He's not "coasting", he would have taken over games to secure the 1 seed by now if he could just up his game at will.

Yet they're getting the 1 seed, so what's the problem really?
As long as his defense comes back in the playoffs, I don't mind him coasting.

This isn't surprising. The Heat have played the most basketball by far over the 4 years, namely Lebron. Hell, the whole team has been pretty bad defensively. All that matters is what they do in the playoffs, and considering they have a real shot at the 1 seed while being the oldest team in the league, these regular season stats don't hold much weight.

Who cares if his defense has been lacking. They still got the number one seed.
Meanwhile, Indiana is plumetting and is too fatigued because they took all those games in December, January, and February a little too seriously :oldlol:
