James was asked whether he thought Durant was the MVP front-runner entering the final games of the regular season.

"I would say he's the most consistent basketball player as far as the MVP this year, man," James said. "He's put up some great numbers."

Is Kobe gonna release an official press statement announcing he is passing the torch to KD?

:oldlol: It was a back handed comment.. He basically called him a consistent stat padder.

Never talked about the importance he is to his team or how he's the "most valuable player".

He is just honest, he said the same thing about Rose in 2010.

Are you really trying to compare Durant's MVP season to Rose's?

:facepalm

The real meaning behind this is to lessen the hype so when he doesn't get MVP, it won't sting as much. He really did try for the MVP and fell short.

Must be utterly embarrassing to concede such a thing at the peak of your powers... Especially to a guy 4 years younger who keeps getting better every single year...

But goat, doe..

it aint about just this year for lebron tho. its really about whether or not he can return to the mvp throne or has KD taken it for good. IMO lebron will gun for the mvp if the heat don't win it all this year. If they win the chip again i don't even think he will be a top three worthy candidate next year (of course the media will always put him in the mvp talk tho).
