View Full Version : Dirk the GOAT European? Tony Parker?

How can we declare Dirk the GOAT and not even talk about Tony Parker. Tony Parker is one of the smartest point guards in NBA history and has proven to be more clutch than Dirk with more rings equal on FMVPs. And don't tell me Dirk's supporting casts were not good...he choked away 2007 and should have won in 2006, D-Whistle aside.

Are you on drugs? TP doesn't even come close to Dirk.

Dirk has no impact defensively. Parker is the engine that makes the Spurs go!

Thats a bit disrespectful to V-Span.

On topic though, Dirk was always the man for the Mavs. TP is still arguably behind Duncan in terms of importance to the Spurs. Factor in Dirk's MVP, his All-NBA teams (competing with Duncan and KG in the early 2000s and LeBron as the decade progressed) and his 2011 run

Ginobili is no European, I know. But as a player at his peak, he just eats Parker alive. Speaking of peak play, Gino is easily 2nd in this era behind Duncan.

I'm probably the biggest Tony Parker fan on this forum, but I think that's a stretch. I have Dirk in the top 25 already. Parker would need another FMVP to be there IMO.

Either Drazen or Sabonis. I lean towards the latter. Even Nikos Gallis is a lot better than Peja.

Parker would and should never touch the top 25. Not even top 50. Top 100, yes.

Is Peja better than Vlade? I'm not sure. He might be better than Dino Radja though. And most certainly better than Sarunas.

As far as top 25 is concerned, we need a player of the caliber of Dwyane Wade. And I'm not sure he makes it. There were many pleyers before him and as far as we are talking not only of peak play but career... even Dwayne is questionable. Being easily top 50 is no shame though.

You do realize there are only 10 other players in history with multiple FMVPs right?

You can make a case for Gasol, but i think it's pretty clear that Parker > Gasol, but Dirk>>Parker.

Wade is going to be pretty securely in the top 25.

His resume speaks for itself. He also has a great peak.

3X Champion
1 FMVP
8X All-NBA (Two 1st, Three 2nd and Three 3rd teams)
3X All-Defense second team
Scoring Champ

.....and counting

He's already more accomplished than Isiah Thomas, who is pretty much universally accepted as a top 25 player of all time.

OP with his drooling, poop throwing retarded chimpanzee thread of the day. Let's hope he doesn't go for another.

Isiah was a much better player than Wade. I assume you are too young. I might be wrong, but I've been following the NBA since 1980. Wade had a great peak of 2-3 years, Isiah had a much better career.

He's Italian. So yes, he's actually European.

:oldlol: at Parker being better than Gasol. Parker isn't even better than Ginobili.

Gasol:

RS PER: 21.5
PS PER: 20.8

RS WS/48: .168
PS WS/48: .160

RS Stats: 18.3 PPG/9.2 RPG/3.3 APG/1.6 BPG on .569 TS%
PS Stats: 17.2 PPG/9.7 RPG/3.4 APG/1.9 BPG on .565 TS%

Parker:

RS PER: 19.1
PS PER: 17.4

RS WS/48: .150
PS WS/48: .091

RS Stats: 17.1 PPG/6.0 APG on .551 TS%
PS Stats: 19.1 PPG/5.3 APG on .516 TS%

Gasol's numbers are remarkably consistent from regular season to post-season while Parker's stats take a nosedive come playoff time. Most embarrassing is is his efficiency. He's like a low-volume version of Iverson come playoff time(not a good thing BTW). Last season's Finals is a great example. Parker was in the prime of his career and played horrible vs Miami. Gasol has never played that bad in a Finals series.
