The main problem with Kevin Love is that he's just a bad defensive player (though not as bad as people brand him to be fair). When you're a perimeter player that can be covered up a lot easier, but he's their PF and Pekovic their center is EVEN WORSE THAN LOVE. You are not going to win games and contend when you're two starting big men have such little impact on defense. Ricky Rubio has more of an impact on the Twolves defense than either of them and he's their ****ing point guard! Kevin Love is a good player, but he needs to be playing next to a Dwight Howard, Noah, Marc Gasol etc type of guy who an anchor the defense because he doesn't have the ability to make any kind of significant defensive impact. The fact that Pek is even worse overall and Ricky Rubio as a pg leads the team in drating is just below Love in defensive win shares because Love has played more minutes is hugely telling how horrible their big men are defensively. If it was Jason Kidd who was running the point that would be understandable as he's one of the greatest defensive guards who made a huge impact with his fantastic help defense, but RUbio isn't Jason Kidd and Love and Pek are basically giving the team little to nothin defensively. When people say Love puts up empty stats I always find that idiotic. Kevin Love doesn't put up empty stats, but he and his entire team doesn't get it done defensively regular. I actually find it mind boggling that they are even 12th in defensive rating. The whole reason they can even be 12 out of 30 is the fact that in general non of their players are completely horrible, so their team defense isn't bad...they just don't have any kind of anchor at all and that is what hurts them the most. They desperately need a guy who can come in and anchor their defense, put them in the top 5-8 range defensively. It's not going to be Love or Pek and frankly it shouldn't be Love as he's already doing so much. I don't get how Pekovic can be so inept defensively though. It's pretty bad when you are actually averaging less bpg than Kevin Love. Pek needs to worry less about scoring and more about anchoring the defense as their center. That is what htey need. The 17.4ppg he averages could fall to 12-14 if he actually played hardcore defense. They wouldn't lose anything from his points as they score just fine. They need him to care more about defending the rim with that huge body of his.

Pekovic is great post defender but bad rim protector , Love is bad at both things.
