The real question is...
How much does his elite defense compensate for a complete lack of consistent, reliable, offensive or rebounding production?
I mean Dro is right, he's there to provide a defensive presence. But, at what point does one say "That shit doesn't make up for being severely mediocre in all other facets of the game"?
Like...is Hibbert a 7'2 version of Tony Allen? In which case....he's a 1st Team All Defense player, but a far cry from an All Star...
Why hasn't Big Al made an ASG yet? :facepalm

Because his teams don't win. He doesn't play D. He's not efficient.

How are the Jazz doing without him?
He's much more efficient than Hibbert, and he's leading the Bobcats of all teams to a winning record. Also, didn't know the ASG was reserved for people on winning teams.

Enough to make up for the vast disparity in offense?

They're doing just fine. The plan was to lose and they've lost. They didn't lose because Al was gone though. They lost because they don't have an NBA caliber starting pg and their back-up is at best a 3rd string pg. Despite that they were close to a .500 team in the middle of the year which was basically what they were with Jefferson. Letting him go was a no brainer. The Jazz have been a lot more interesting to watch with actual ball movement again as opposed to that horrible Al ball they played the past couple years.

You haven't been paying attention than. Winning certainly plays a role in all-star selections.

Cats have a great shot at upsetting pacers.

22/11/2/1/1 on 50% isn't efficient? Eat a dick.
He almost doubled the averages of an allstar in 3 categories and wasn't given a spot on the allstar team.

Roy Hibbert is bad. Not sure if he's even a top 15 center. Pacers are getting 1st rounded for sure.

They are both overrated and Al Jefferson seems to get more and more overrated as the days go by because people won't shut the **** about him. Al Jefferson average 21.8ppg on 19 shots a game...that is complete and utter crap for a big man. That isn't even good efficiency for a guard even. He's playing some decent defense for the Bobcats, but a big man who needs to take 19 shots to average 21.8ppg is anything but underrated. He has no business being the first option as scorer and anyone who thinks different is an idiot and has no concept of the game of basketball.

Who should be the first option on the Bobcats ?

the only reasons some of you clowns think al jefferson is inefficient is because he doesn't shoot many free throws. but that's not a sign of inefficiency. he's not taking any possessions away from teammates by getting to the line often and only hitting 50% of his free throws. he's an extremely reliable option on the block who hits half of his shoots and shoots a lot. he's a great player, stop hating
edit: and al jefferson's impact on the game >>>>>>>> roy hibbert's

That is a good question, though. Why doesn't Al, as big as he is (6-10 over 265 pounds), should be getting to line at will. He's averaging below 4 free throw attempts for the season and his career.

Bobcats are one of the better defensive teams.

Al Jefferson has very little to do with the fact that the Bobcats are a good defensive team.
He is quite pathetic on defense. Enough that I can't look past it, even if he is dropping a 30 pt game.
