When the Rockets traded Horry and Cassell for Barkley was the worst to me. Even worse than drafting Royce White.

Right after Moses Malone won the MVP, the Rockets traded him... what a shame.

Another bad trade was when we traded Nicolas Batum for Joey Dorsey and Donte Green.

Well, starting in 1960 (when they moved to LA), these are pretty bad:

1) Not trading for Wilt in Dec. 64 before Philly did:

http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=312123

2) Trading Kermit Washington and Don Chaney for peanuts:

http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=9460509&postcount=9

3) Trading Shaq when they did. I think you had to either trade him a year earlier or slightly later.

4) Trading Butler for Kwame was asinine too (though we got Pau...).

5) Signing D'Antoni as coach, and keeping him on board to **** our tanking up this year.

Some other things that are somewhat minor: trading for Spencer Haywood, Eddie Jones for Glen Rice (Kobe needed more playing time, but I think they could've coexisted), signing van Breda Kolff as coach, not dealing Pau after 2011.

Pretty much sums it up. I would add Odom trade, Lakers could've gotten something better that a TPE.
The Lakers did trade Pau, Stern blocked it though.

In the Lebron Miami era (and slightly before that) these are the worst decisions Miami has made:

1. Refusing to trade for Chalmers and Cole for Vucevic
2. Hiring Spo as HC
3. Drafting Cole over Parsons
4. Signing Joel Anthony to a 18 million dollar contract

Stern is a bitch, but I think they needed to pursue more trades. Then again, maybe they just couldn't move him?

Odom thing sucked at the time too.

Suns traded away rights to Fernandez during the run n gun years.

Suns traded away rights to Rondo during the run n gun years.

Suns failed to match offer for Joe Johnson during the run n gun years.

Suns traded Shawn Marion for Shaq -- at the time Suns had best record in the NBA, went on to lose in 1st round.

Suns. :rant

worst trade of the decade was giving up the sixth overall pick in the 2012 draft (turned out to be damian lillard) for a 30 year old gerald wallace who was going to be a free agent in a couple of months anyways.

i never got that trade and will never understand why billy king made that horrible trade.

I have a feeling that if we would have kept JJ then we would have won a championship in the run and gun years, no question about it....:(

I feel that way as well -- they never got to have a clear run with everyone healthy from that first magical year. I doubt they could have beaten the spurs in 2005 had Johnson not broken his face, but give them another 2-3 chances in the coming years and I think they would have broken through and stolen one ring.

Trading for CP3 and Dwight were moves that any other team would have made and trading for Nash wasn't exactly controversial

The only thing I blame the front office for are the coaching hires

Carter for Zo (never reported), Eric Williams, Aaron Williams

:facepalm :facepalm :facepalm

And 2 first rounders that turned into Charlie Villanueva (1 season) and Joey Graham.

It didn't help that those picks weren't exactly solid either when they were better options. Could have taken Andrew Bynum (don't know how long that would have lasted) and Graham was picked right before Danny Granger.

Lol it was actually hilarious how boozer f*ked them over. He promised the Cavs that he'd sign for the full mid level exception (around 40 mil for 6 years) if the Cavs didn't pick up his option (around 700k). The Cavs did as Boozer said, and boozer signed with the Jazz for 6 years 68 million.

If someone did that today :oldlol:

Yaroslav Korolev.

Those who were selected after him:

Danny Granger
Gerald Green
Nate Robinson
Jarrett Jack
CJ Miles
Ersan Ilyasova
Ronny Turiaf
Louis Williams
Andray Blatche
Marcin Gortat

Trade wise, they haven't made many bad ones.

I'd say, in recent history, it would be gifting Zach Randolph to Memphis in exchange for Q, who they swapped for Sebastian Telfair, Ryan Gomes, Craig Smith & Mark Madsen. Just atrocious.

Trading Perk/Nate Robinson for Jeff Green/Nenad Krstic. With Perk, we're in the Finals again that year. Another legit shot at a title is far more important to me than losing Perk that offseason to free agency.

Trading Chauncey Billups for Kenny Anderson. Pierce and Billups developing together was like a dream come true and Pitino screwed it all up, just as he did with everything else when he ran the Celtics.

Trading away Luis Scola and trading for Richard Jefferson. :banghead:

Add to that considering trading Duncan for Oden back in 2007 (if the reports of it were true).

Richard Jefferson is my least favourite Spur.

Draft day 2007- when ray Allen was traded away to Boston for the 6th pick which was used to get Jeff Green. Green ain't that bad but a tandem of Allen and Durant would have been fun to watch.

summer 1997 - signing Jim McIlvaine for that contract eventually having to trade away Shawn kemp's disgruntled azz.
