Imagine how much more serious of a threat they'd be as the sonics still. I honestly think Durant and Westbrook are both looked down on a little because of the little town they're in now. Nobody is scared of the "thunder" they'd see them different as sonics

I root for Durant and the thunder.
Durant was drafted a sonic. I have his jersey.
If you don t root for him and hold what billionaire old white businessmen do, you have serious disgruntlement issues. Straight up.
You root for players , not owners. If you don't wanna root for kd , you weren't a real fan to start.

I thought we're supposed to root for teams?

You're shaking your head but actually you're the one that doesn't understand what's written.
A real fan roots for a team no matter who plays there,no matter how good they are at the moment.
A real Seattle fan is not going to care much about KD because, guess what,he doesn't play for the Sonics.
I guess the Bulls fans in the 90' should have suddenly started rooting for the Wizards?
Now there's nothing inherently wrong with being a player-first fan...but that doesn't make you a Seattle fan, which was the point of this thread.

I used to live in Seattle, was a die hard Sonics fan then I moved down to Houston around 04, was still repping the Sonics until they moved of course so I switched onto liking my new hometown team ..The Rockets. But I've always been fond of the Rockets so it wasn't a hard thing to do

I agree with what you're saying about rooting for a player and I'm with you on that. I'm not following what you said about the billionaires. Maybe you left out a word? I'm not sure. I'm also not sure why you care that they are white. I love Durant and I don't care that he's black. I'm all for minority ownership in all leagues. I guess maybe meaning that some old white dudes would be out of touch w the players and general trends in society? I would agree with that but I would say that most older people regardless of race wouldn't be able to relate to the players or the fans well. Jordan didn't relate to young players well when he was in Washington and when Nick Van Exel was on the lakers and magic was there he used to call him fat and old so race isn't always a determining factor in situations like that. It's also an age gap/generational thing. Btw yes I was a Sonics fan and have no feelings one way or the other about OKC. I really like Durant. I like that Scottie Brooks is a coach just cause I remember when he played for the Sixers and he worked hard and worked his way up to be a coach and I respect that. I will say that if Seattle gets another team I won't root for them. I liked the Sonics but that team is gone forever to me. I like Dallas now but I'm 42 and at this point I just want to watch a good basketball game regardless of who's playing. That what makes me happy.

I guess I should not have put white in.
All I mean is that clay Bennet and Howard Schultz (the "white buisnessmen) is why sonics are in OKC. Durant had no say in it. Just because these businessmen made a deal that shipped sonics out of town, you're gonna hold it against Durant and not root for the team he's on??????? RetOarded. I love kd and will always think of him as a sonic.
And yes, of course. When we get another team I'm rooting , supporting my ass off for them.
For now, my favorite team is OKC.
And clippers. Cus my boy j crossover plays for em.
I don't get why Seattle fans wouldn't root for the Thunder. It's the same team... they are just wearing different clothes.

Root for players that you like. There's no point in rooting for fabric.
I must admit though, there is something cool when you root for a team your father and grandfather used to root for. This can be especially meaningful to you if your grandfather or father has passed away.
Though, even still, if this is the case, if you go back and ask why your grandfather rooted for one team, he won't be able to give you a real reason, and you will be left realizing that he was rooting for fabric.
So then you realize that even though you are rooting for what your grandfather rooted for, which is cool in a sense, he had no real reason to root for that team in the first place.
