Consistent greatness also comes with consistent chokes if they don't win.
For every ring winning year there is another playoff choke :confusedshrug:

Imagine if Popovich actually had championship level talent.

Maybe they'd win it all like 4 times or something.

Not choking, just unlucky in 2004 with the Fisher shot, in 2006 with Ginobili's stupid foul on Nowitzki and last year.

Lakers choked in 2004 with a much better team, 2006(up 3-1), 2008(24 pt lead) no?

Talent wise, the gap between Lakers and Pistons was bigger than the gap between Spurs and Memphis.

Do you people actually get satisfaction from trolling?

You lack character.

Being anonymous doesn't mean you have to act like an immature/annoying jackass.

They're an admirable franchise and Pop is clearly the best coach around.

But they have had a lot of really bad chokes, especially in the last 5-6 years.

What BS. The Spurs were the #1 seed, going against an 8th seed. The Pistons only won two fewer games than the Lakers and almost repeated as champions. Detroit had a historically great defense.

Spurs fans are comical. They want all the accolades that come with consistent 50+ win seasons, but none of the flak that comes with failing to win it all. Losing with the "best player of his generation" no less

This. Not hating, but there has to be something wrong if you have the best records in the NBA and then not be trusted to win it all. With HCA as well. :confusedshrug:

Still the third best nba franchise of all time. (Above Bulls in my opinion)

I think you can say that.

They lost with HCA in 00,01, 02, 04, 06, 09, 11, 12.
2000 they were without Duncan so they get a pass.

04 and 12 they had a 2x0 lead and lost 4 games in a row.
11 they were the 1st seed and lost to the 8th.
Last year even though they didn't have HCA, it was their biggest choke.

Thoughts? Nobody even thinks they will win this year. If they lose with HCA again, I dont see how it wont be a choke.

You're delusional.

You're delusional.
Well, I said nobody which is an obvious exaggeration not delusion.

They arent favorites to win the west, nor the finals despite having HCA. Even Spurs fans dont think they can beat OKC. Or at least a good bit of them dont.

The only real "chokes" were in '06, '11 and '13.

You seriously think they had a chance of beating the Shaq and Kobe Lakers in '01 or '02? Go back and look at those squads and tell me they even had a chance. '04 Lakers were better. '06, I personally thought the Mavs were better, but the talent gap was very small regardless. Manu blew it. In 2012 the Thunder were clearly the better team. They had prime Durant, Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka. You expect a prime Parker and past-their-prime Duncan/Manu to beat them?

Surely choking is about failing to meet expectations. Regular season success does not make you the best team in the league. I can't be bothered to go and look back, but some of those teams the Spurs lost to were heavily injured throughout the regular season (and thus their record wasn't as good).

Yes.

People even call them a dynasty. Can't win back2back titles, can't even make it to back to finals the next year. :oldlol:

I fail to see how a franchise that has won 4 championships in the past 15 years can be labelled a choking franchise. What do you call the other 29 franchises?

Lakers were slight favorite in 2001 but many picked the Spurs beat the Lakers on that year because of what happened the last time they met in the playoff when Duncan was healthy.

Derek Anderson only played 41 minutes in the series though, and he was the second option throughout the regular season.

Kobe was able to abuse the old guards, and Derek Fisher couldn't miss a shot (he was 75% from 3 for the series). I get your point though.
