Where's Westbrook's ring? Where's Durant's ring? They're both older than Griffin too...

Jordan's method to keep guys from fouling him hard was to punch them in the crotch. Really. If he knew someone was going to knock him down on a drive he would ball his off hand fist up and keep it low as he went up for the attempted layup/dunk. When the contact was made he would tap their sack. Since it was happening between two bodies clashing the refs almost never saw it, and the opposing player got the message. Apparently this was an old school move players would do, particularly to rookies if they were playing dirty.

I'd do it... I mean if I felt people were going at me like that, I dunno if I'd punch someone per se... but basically every player has has an altercation. I still remember Shaq slapping Alvin.
Even nice guys... I mean sometimes you just gotta go in on someone. I was thinking about it yesterday, even. I was thinking what would happen if I was an NBA guy and Chris Paul punched me in the nuts. I think I would wait until I got a chance... like wait until he was driving on me... then just bust his ass and keep beating him until they broke it up.
It's funny because... you might get a 20-30 game suspension, and yea it does change the way the refs look at you, but I'd rather have that than be bullied. Look at Artest. Nobody ****ed with him after the Malice and he didn't even really do anything but just look mad and go after a fan.

That advice sounds contrived, since it's advice that people like Barkley, and other players who work and take a pounding download give. Kobe is a perimeter superstar. He's not taking a pounding like those other guys, players are trying to not foul him, because refs will call it. Plus the rule changes makes things less physical for him. Sounds like something he's repeating because it sounds tough and witty.

As a post player I've heard this my entire life, it isnt contrived. Oh, and Kobe has been through his share of battles...being the best perimeter player on the planet means people are coming for you and you can't give up any ground and get punked on the court.
