If you are a Lebron/Heat fan, would you spend $200 to see Miami against Bobcats/Toronto or would you save your money and watch an epic series against the Indiana Pacers?

Weird that they sold out at home during the season and were the most watched team in the league away from home...

I looked up Blazer tickets and the are like 400 for a 100 level seat. F*ck that. I'd rather stay home and watch on a 70 inch screen. If it was a WCF game or Finals game I might pay that.

Even in 2001 most Miami Hurricane games were empty aside from a few big rivalry games. Miami just has bad sports fans, a bunch of Cubans who have no interest in American sports, North Eastern transplants that root for NE teams, plus a very exciting city which makes people in Miami less interested in sports.

Can't hold it against the small contingent of real basketball heads in South Beach but my goodness that's pathetic news. Are they that worried that they won't sell out?

I think their regular season tickets cost a lot and they would most likely play bobcats so it is very reasonable to give some real fans a chance to see the games as most don't have the money to go to heat playoff games that cost a lot. From the stats I saw, they have been selling out every game for a long time.

Who's they? The article is about the secondary market not the organization and the Heat already had the most expensive tickets during the season. It would be insane to have a huge markup for a snooze of a first round series.

I was/just trying to see how many people actually read the article.this is from the article.

"While Heat fans get a bad rap for their perceived lack of interest in games, they are not the only fans possibly looking forward to future playoff rounds. Oklahoma City Thunder fans are considered some of the best in the league, but Thunder playoff tickets have just a 21% premium over their regular season average, the third smallest premium in the league. The next lowest is for Bulls playoff tickets, which are 45% more expensive than regular season games at the United Center."

No I admittedly did not even so much as click the link...

With that said, that's still flawed business practice regardless of how you spin it but more so tipifies a lacklustre sporting fan base. Charging less on the dollar for playoff tickets speaks to a lesser demand, which is always characteristic of a wonky fan base...

OKC is still lifting their prices on a 21 percent premium. That may not hold against the likes of Toronto but that's still a tangible increase.

This a joke no matter how you try to convey it man...

I didn't read the article...

And I fully concur that it would be insane to have a huge markup for an expected first round advancement but to have no hike at all, let alone a reduction? Why not just maintain the status quo? Scaling back the face value makes zero sense to me from a business standpoint...

I think the thought was the Heat were going to try these last few games for the one seed. They didnt. :confusedshrug:

This sounds bad if you just take it for what it is and don't think about it.

But if you think about it, or read the article, you'll realize they are just talking about the first round and nobody in Miami wants to spend a lot of money to see Miami in their bye week against Charlotte. They would rather just wait to see a meaningful game in the ECF.

And according to the articles about this, similar stuff is happening in OKC.

But if you think about it, or read the article, you'll realize the lower ticket prices for their playoff games are due to the first round and the fact that Miami fans don't really care to see Miami in their bye week against Charlotte. They would rather just wait to see a meaningful game in the ECF.

And according to the articles about this, similar stuff is happening in OKC.

So do you surmise that there's a possibility that they wouldn't sell out had they increased their prices by a marginal amount such as OKC did?

Their bandwagon celebrity fans who paid exorbitant ticket prices prices to get a few seconds of air time have already started their summer holidays early, thus leaving the Cubans who arrived on a raft, a few geriatric retirees, and a small group or working class real fans to fill the void
