Sorry if I sound insensitive but I just dont get this. Sure it was a tragedy and the fallen deserve our respect but why do people push this so much? There have been numerous football tragedies in English football alone but most people couldnt even name those. But Hillsborough is still talked about daily 25 years later. Is it just cause its Liverpool? I know those pesky Scousers can keep long grudges but seriously.....

it is not because its Liverpool, it is cause in was the 3rd biggest football tragedy in the history of the sport. so many things to talk about regarding this tragedy so many controversies and so several causes that lead to the events are other reasons why this is so talked about.

too bad i took 100+ dead people and 1000+ injured overall for people to change things regarding building stadiums, match safety, segregation policies and so many other things.

As an Evertonian I obviously feel empathy for the grieving liverpool fc supporters, but I dislike how much of a huge deal it's become. You are pretty much not allowed to have a differing opinion on the matter, and that genuinely disturbs me. Even if I do think that the authorities did **** up, it's unreasonable to act as if the rowdiness of the crowd didn't greatly add to the situation. That's not to say that the people who died were at fault, or that all Liverpool fans are savages: a disaster like that could have happened to any club.

The Bradford City fire and Heysel get absolutely swept under the rug (I don't even think I recall Liverpool officially recognizing their involvement with the latter tragedy) while Hillsborough keeps being brought forth. I understand that the former don't have the same government involvement appeal, but I really wish that people would stop politicizing the disaster or using it as an example of a mass conspiracy against Liverpool. The people who don't like Liverpool aren't going to like liverpool no matter how often you remind them- you can't force people to change their opinions.

The whole ordeal is a mess. I'm the last person to hop onto the "violent dirty scousers!" bandwagon, and I don't mind if kopites don't read The Sun or hate Thatcher (good on them). So please don't view this as an insult. Just a different point of view from the usual 2 sides on the issue.

I pretty much agree with all of this (except the part about being a Evertonian  )

Are you from Liverpool?

I agree with you, it's the same thing with the Munich Air Disaster. Meanwhile very few people have heard about the Superga disaster.

I spent a few years in liverpool, but I wouldn't say I'm from there.

I will never understand why people get SO damn mad as to start death threats though. That's not going to solve shit. In fact all it does is give the media reason to keep on with the "oh look at these violent assholes!" crap they're sort of complaining about in the first place.
