Im beginning to think I have a problem. I have always been lazy, but recently my productivity has slowed to a crawl. I have so many assignments to do, so many awesome ideas and projects I could be doing but I just waste time surfing the web. I have been on holiday for the last two weeks but have spent them doing nothing and now I am disappointed at the time I have wasted. Life is so short and I understand this completely, in fact I think about it everyday. Yet I still cannot push myself to actually do anything about it. Anyway else feel this way?

Those things were like 5 minutes bro. You would be surprised, ISH is actually one of the less useless hobbies I have, atleast you learn something every once in a while on here.

Spoiler:
You are not that different than other 20 year olds. This is the time in a lot of people's lives where they float aimlessly until they find some sort of passion. Just keep looking and have an open mind to opportunities.

Bad wording. Meant that his brain tricks him into thinking that homeostasis and "being a lazy fukk" is an acceptable way to survive through life and has gotten him past high school thus far.
The truth is it's not.

we all succumb to lazy streaks. Lazyness is a habit, just as much as working hard. you have to build up your habit of working hard again.

when i was your age i found i was a lot more productive with my time when I had a stacked course load, part time job, plus other activities.
When i was just going to school and not working I wasn't as productive.

dont you have anything you want to accomplish in life? Dedicate as much of your waking time as possible towards accomplishing that dream. Even if you never accomplish it, atleast you can say you tried your hardest.
If you dont have any dreams-get some.

It may have to do with the absence of a sink-or-swim ultimatum. I believe there is a significant difference between the folks who have a solid family background and are trying to make their way through college, and the folks who have little or no support and have no choice but to fight to survive.
Basically, when we come from supportive families and know we're supposed to be working toward getting a degree and finding a career, it can likely still be tough to remain motivated since we haven't tasted desperation. There's a safety net. At some point, even for the laziest or most unmotivated, there comes a time where it's like, "Okay, if I don't succeed, I may not have a place to sleep soon." That often seems to do the trick.
Also, yeah, regardless of anything else, it's just flat out normal to go through these bouts as we grow.

Modern society is boring and unnatural that's why. People including families are fragmented and isolated.
If you sit at home all day surfing the web you do get pretty lazy and honestly it gets pretty boring. I have done that myself. Usually doing something productive makes the rest of the day better. Even the indigenous people had to work 1-3 hours a day finding food etc. Now granted in modern society most people are extremely over worked *40 hours is considered a light work week when in reality that is a very long work week) which is a waste of life and very unnatural. I find if you even do a minimal amount of work each day it makes your day more meaningful. Also we are disconnected from nature which makes it more depressing in combination with being disconnected from people.
While you are on a holiday go for a run. Get the blood flowing. Also meditation is amazing for the mind. Maybe volunteer somewhere.

doesn't matter. as long as you're comfortable, you're good. in the end, there's really no need to go above and beyond. death is still the inevitable end.
