Then it's not a block. Nice attempt, tho.

Honest to god I have no idea who he blocked. Had to look it up.

Oden has been great since some time not, the problem is they call everything on him because they think he is foul prone now:facepalm

That much (or rather, little) contact probably wouldn't have been called a foul but would have been called goaltending in the 1960's, you were not allowed to pin the ball against the glass back then, can't remember which game but one of the games with alcindor the commentator clearly describes the rule as being such after Alcindor pins the ball to the glass on a block attempt that gave 2 points to the shooter

He overdid it. But that looks relieving that he wasn't shattered.

Sh*t like this happened all the time when he was 'healthy' in Portland.

Of course, he got called for a foul half those times because he was so strong.

meh, hes coming out away from the basket (not vertical) and creates a lot of body contact. Foul is probably the right call, though it was a pretty incredible play.

doesnt matter where he is coming from. only that when he decided to jump that he was on a vertical plane. That isn't a foul under the interpretation I'm familiar with. I know it has been updated but I dont think this is what the emphasis was focusing on...

i hate it when people say this, it doesnt count as a block on the stat sheet but the ball is still live for an and one even if he fouls him. For all intents and purposes, in these cases those are blocks.

I don't think verticality would be applied like that in this situation. Do you mean to suggest that "The Block" by Tayshaun Prince on Reggie Miller was a foul? Prince was most certainly NOT jumping vertically on that play.

Oden gets all ball too.
