..So how many stars does each playoff team have?

Indiana - None
Miami - James, Bosh, Wade
Chicago - Noah
Toronto - None
Brooklyn - None
Washington - Wall
Charlotte - None
Atlanta -None

Spurs - Parker
Thunder - Durant, Westbrook
Clippers - Paul, Griffin
Houston - Howard, Harden
Portland - Lillard, Aldridge
Golden State - Curry
Memphis - None
Dallas - Dirk

Next I will talk about potential stars who I decided to leave off the list

Potential stars who I decided to leave off the list

East

Paul George/Roy Hibbert - Never gave either of these guys a real thought. Indy is a team oriented squad, in the ilk of the 04 Pistons (Just no where near as good)

Demar DeRozan - Not there yet, hasn't developed his brand. On the cusp of stardom imho.
Anyone on Brooklyn - Cmon be serious.

Al Jefferson - One of my toughest decisions, great scorer, bad defender but his coach has done a great job of masking it.

West
Duncan, Ginobili, Leonard - Leonard has been awesome, Duncan is old reliable. It was tough leaving those two out. Gino isn't a star anymore.

Ibaka - Not quite a star, no brand whatsoever. Offensive game is lacking, great complementary piece to their big 2.

Marc Gasol - Beast of a player, but had a quiet year. He might be a star, not sure.

Monta Ellis - Never has been a star, had a nice year as Dirks #2. Decided to leave him off.

Thoughts? Comments?

Thank you for reading and have a wonderful night.

Bosh is not a superstar.

Bosh is however, a star. He's well known throughout the world, even if it may be as Miami's third wheel. He's a fantastic all around player, he doesn't have as many chances to shine as he would on his lonesome but he isn't someone I seriously considered taking off the list.

  Can my superstar Bosh not let his SF out rebound him, while outscoring, playing more minutes, having more assists, having ball handling responsibilities, and taking on the hardest defensive assignments down the stretch-than him?

WTF? Bosh is top 15-20 in the league. Since when are there 15+ superstars in the league? :biggums:

The only superstars:

LeBron
Durant
Kobe (When healthy)
Melo
CP3/Griffin are debatable

Oh, and I would trade Bosh for either Marc Gasol or Z-Bo straight up.

I'll even throw in a draft pick.

I want Noah. I love bosh, but Noah would be the best dude for the Heat. Elite passing/rebounding and he's tough... won't back down to Hibbert

Kobe's last healthy year he was a super star so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt

I agree with your list, but Griffin is more of a super star than Melo IMHO.

I would too, but the OP mentioned Noah as a star, but failed to mention anyone for Memphis.

Tell you the truth, I would probably opt for Hibbert/West for Bosh...

And I would DEFINITELY take Paul George over Bosh.

And I would also take:

DWill, Joe Johnson, and maybe even Pierce over Bosh.

I've only seen Memphis when they played Houston.

I'll defer to Memphis fans, are Conley and Zach stars in this league? Awesome players, yes but stars?

Yep. Should have done Bosh for Omer/filler...Although that Houston team would be Harden, Bosh, Howard, Parsons, but we wouldn't have to worry about them until the finals.

Gasol is at worse the 5th best center in the league, that is a star in my book.
If you put Wade, you must put George.
I would put Big Al as well.

Wade, we assume, will be healthy for the playoffs. He's a bonafide star until his play proves otherwise.

Paul George has been utter shit the 2nd half. He won't be a star until he gets more consistent.

I have Marc behind Dwight and Noah as my 3rd best center. With some more positive input I'll move him.

It is definitely important to have a superstar...and when you have a 2nd star around that superstar....it's really good.

I'm a big believer in that stuff.

The problem is that coaching really matters as well...so I'm torn on the Spurs vs Thunder...Brooks is terrible here in comparison. And it's not like Duncan and Parker aren't top 15 or 20 players.

But historically one of either the Clippers or Thunder will come out of the West...

Conley, Z-Bo and Gasol are all borderline stars.

It always depends on what someone's definition of a star is. They aren't superstars but are they stars?

Gasol has been an All Star, and so has Z-Bo. Conley was in discussion for this years but wasn't picked.

It doesn't really matter, it's just a word. How they play is what matters.

None of them are the sort of players that attract TV ads or magazines or shoes deals. They are more fundamental the same way Tim Duncan is. Z-Bo has his moments though, for example he played like a superstar in the year that Grizz beat the Spurs and almost OKC. He doesn't usually play that well though.

Same sort of thing with Manu, Duncan and Parker. They are all star players but whether you think of them that way or not doesn't make much difference.

I had trouble put putting Melo on that list. IMO, a superstar is a player who is recognized by non-basketball fans. I asked a off topic forum who has heard of Carmelo Anthony, and I was surprised that there were a lot who had no idea who he was. But still, Melo puts up superstar numbers.

Marc Gasol is definitely one of the best players in the game.

But usually it takes superstars to win. Because sometimes a guy is just so good that if you can't match him blow for blow with another player...it's just too overwhelming. It doesn't win every time or anything like that, but most title teams in NBA history have some semblance of a superstar and an all nba type 2nd guy.

The problem for a team like the Thunder is that coaching is important...and Brooks sucks compared to Pop.

I think the Clippers are a real threat to come out of the West not only because of the players they have, but because of Doc Rivers as well.

I'm rooting for the Spurs assuming they beat the Mavs, but my guess is that the winner of the OKC/Clippers series wins the West and wins the title. I say that assuming Wade isn't able to play at a great level...if he is...then it's a toss up for me.

So if pressed...I'd go;

1. Thunder
2. Clippers
3. Heat
4. Spurs
