Nah, I can understand picking Vegeta if you've only seen the Xmen movies or something, that's why I provided the links guys. Magneto is really really ****ing strong, it's not nearly as one-sided as you think.

Magnetic Flight: Magneto is also capable of sustaining flight for very long distances and at varying speeds.By using his magnetic powers, Magneto can virtually travel at trans-light speeds; however, in order to travel in space, Magneto also requires his force field to breathe.

Magnetic Pulse: Magneto has the ability to focus magnetic energy into an extremely powerful concussive blast, which can be utilised for various purposes.

Matter Manipulation: Magneto is able to manipulate matter even to the subatomic level for a number of purposes. This might explain why he is not limited to objects with metallic properties and is able to manipulate objects with non-metallic properties like wood, stone, plastics, etc. to such a degree. This is due to the electromagnetic force which exits between atoms and other subatomic particles.

Electromagnetic Sight: By concentrating, Magneto can perceive the world around himself as patterns of magnetic and electrical energy. He can perceive the natural magnetic auras surrounding living beings and percieve their current physical and mental condition.

Metallic Bonding: Magneto has recently presented the power to atomically bond metallic substances to any designated surface material. This newly developed technique allows Magneto to blend metallic alloys with the earth, water, and air (HoM).

Superhuman Reflexes: He naturally possesses enhanced reflexes. He can further enhance this reflexes with magnetic energy, to the point he can pluck out of the air with his hand, superhumans as swift and fast as the likes of Northstar with ease.

When you are judging a match up like this, the key things to look for are pretty much in three categories.

Offense

Offensively, Magneto has the ability to move and to mould metal. This is a very niche power and requires a lot of strategy to use to its fullest potential. Vegeta however has a much larger range of attacks, is more skilled than Magneto in hand to hand combat and also has him beat in speed and physical strength. Magneto can move the planet, whereas Vegeta can blow it up. Vegeta easily wins.

Defense

Defensively, Magneto has shown before to not be able to take a lot of damage. He has been beaten numerous times be the X-Men who contain members without even a fraction of Vegetas power. Vegeta however has shown that he can take devastating amounts of damage and recover to take the victory.

Mentality

This is another thing that people often skim past when making arguments for one fighter over the other. Vegeta has a proud warrior mentality, which makes him perfect mentally for fighting. There have been numerous occasions where Vegeta may have been overmatched yet his proud warrior spirit led him to a unlikely victory. You cannot say the same for Magneto, in fact Magneto has often lost when it looked like he had the match won, so it would be feasible to name Magneto as a choker and unclutch. The only fighter to ever hold a mental advantage over him was Goku. If you were to compare the resolve and pure determination to win of the two combatants, Vegeta definitely comes out on top.

If someone looks at this subjectively and without bias, and also has sufficient knowledge of both characters, their strengths and their history, there is no way that they can come up with the conclusion that Magneto would be victorious.

I dont buy it when the creators just claim a character can do this, that or the other. They are judged by their actions in combat, and Magneto is not very strong when you compare him to Vegeta. Its like when Flash claimed to be able to think in attoseconds yet he was shot, tagged on numerous occasions and killed by SLADE, who in turn got beat down by Robin.

Comic Magneto is like a demi god tho. But Vegeta could speedblitz him. Magneto has crazy reaction time.

It also depends on the universe they are in. Vegeta apparently time travel even though he could move faster than light. Vegeta could run faster than light and time travel to kill Magneto.
