View Full Version : Miami's bench stinks

Never seen this many oldies and scrubs sitting next to each other. Half are on their way to retirement while the rest would not be in the NBA.

Miami need to pray to the injury gods that Wade can play healthy and well, if only for a last time because next season they'll acquire themselves a brand new bench with all the major roster changes they'll face.

most players on the Miami bench are washed up scrubs that can only score because Bron and Wade can make entire defenses collapse.
their defense and overall play is terrible. whats the worst is the basketball IQ guys like Allen, Battier or Rashard showed this year. washed up old bodies and basketball IQ of rookies.:facepalm :facepalm
they gon step up tho:coleman:

It wont matter if Wade and Bosh play like 19 million salary players.
Only 3/4 bench players will be in the rotation. It will probably be Birdman, Cole ,Allen and probably Batter.

Here are the stats for Miami's bench in the regular season

30.2 ppg (17th)
36,3% 3PT (11th)
46,3% FG (3rd)
19th in assists
19th in rebounding

7th in opposing bench PPG
20th in opposing bench FG%(this is a big concern)
22nd in opposing bench 3PT% (suck at defending the 3)

now let's look at last season

24th in ppg (28.6)
26th in rebounding
15th in FG%
1st in 3PT% (39,7%!)
12th in defending the 3
7th in opponent fg%
allowed the 2nd least points by opposing benches

seems like Miami's 3pt shooting is their biggest concern this season as far as their bench is concerned and they haven't been that great at defending the 3 compared to last season.

Do they stink? No. I think they've been coasting for most of the season, I feel like their best 3pt shooters will show up when it matters.

So you expect the Heat to have the most STACKED starting lineup in years while also having a stacked bench? That's the problem with Bron stans, they're all delusional.

The only capable player on that bench is Birdman. Ray and Battier can be useful when they have a good night, but that's once in 4 games.

The rest is crap with an exception of Beasley who is in the doghouse.

Stacked in what way? Wade being out the most parts of the season with injuries or Bosh playing like a regular good player, no the star he's paid to be. This is reality, not something made up. If it wasn't, Miami would be shitting on the league with Wade, Bosh and Lebron playing to 'stacked' levels.

And what does being a Lebron fan have to do with Miami's bench being old and mediocre? You're acting as if this isn't being pointed out as a major issue for Miami by experts this whole season.

Get your head out of your ass and analyze that bench for a second instead of screaming 'Lebron fans' like a troll.

I'm not saying the bench hasn't stunk this season, but what do you expect to have? Teams aren't supposed to be able to afford the dudes you already have.

I'm not saying they're stacked. Just that the guys are respected and decorated NBA vets who whether they're still good or not, likely would be payed more elsewhere. Same goes for Lebron, Wade, and Bosh. Whether they're playing up to snuff or not, the fact that they're all on the same team is crazy considering what they COULD be getting payed.

And how is that better than Birdman, Allen, Cole, Beasley, Battier, and Oden? Plus, Haslem and James Jones seem like they are always ready and contribute whenever they play, but they are usually out of the rotation because Miami is that stacked.

I watched most of their games this season. Birdman is like the best big man off the bench, even better than Asik. He is a great rim protector, offensive rebounder and finisher.

Beasley was a great burst of offense off the bench when he was playing, and I'm sure Spo will use him again in the playoffs. I bet you money he's gonna win you guys a game or two just with his ability to get hot very quickly (I hope I'm wrong).

Battier is still one of the best defensive players to guard SF's, and that bastard will make most of his shots in most important games.

Cole played very well in his first two playoffs, and seems to have improved even more. He's become a very reliable 3-point shooter.

And Ray fuc*king Allen... I wish I could say that he sucks, but you know he will bring his A-game whenever needed.

fair assessment but you propped up james jones and oden as if they have amounted to anything this year...cole has been decent but not that impressive and battier has been in a huge slump all year. Ray Allen comes and goes....there's literally NOTHING consistent about the bench except for Birdman

What the hell is this? That's you basically saying one positive thing and neglecting everything negative that comes with it.

Beasley won't even play, if he would Spo would have had put him in the rotation. The guy is a liability on defence.

Battier is old and has already announced he's retiring. Miami was forced to bench him and abandon the small ball because it was not working anymore with him in it. Tells you how much he has fallen off.

You saying Cole has improved is why I know you're just talking BS. The talk about Cole this season is about how he has been disappointing. Ask anybody who follows Miami.

Is this honestly what makes Miami bench so good? One guy who is not even in the rotation, a guy who is retiring, Norris Cole and 38 year old Ray Allen?

Man, you really showed me there, huh? I now see the awesomeness that is the Miami bench. Who cares about what reports and experts say about it, it is awesome!

You said Miami has a good bench because their bench players have ''high basketball IQ, battle tested, a HOF, playoff & championship experience and knowledge about playing championship basketball when necessary.''

Retired players like Russell, Jason Kidd and Gary Payton also have those qualities. By your logic, those players would good bench player if a team signed them today.

They're old and naturally not as capable of bringing a spark when it is needed. But if they can win a title this year, then this doesn't even matter. The team has the opportunity to completely rebuild in the offseason and bring in more talent.

The Heat have the core and if they want to be a legit dynasty then adding and tweaking the roleplayers is a necessity. Look at the Spurs model.

Actually since joining, Miami has been in the bottom 5 in terms of production from the bench, and their +/- impact on the game. They are routinely one of the worst, especially when it comes to the contenders. Miami are a top heavy team that rely on Wade, Bosh and Lebron. Always have been.
