Durant had 2 50+ point games this season Kobe had 10(including 2 60+ games and 4 50+ games in a row)
that's maybe worth mentioning

So we're just gonna ignore the fact that peak Kobe was a substantially better defender. Got it.

This has to go down as one of the most unintentionally funny threads on ISH ever

KD has better numbers across virtually the entire board, in less minutes played

Durant. Easily. In fact, Durant's current season is better than any of Kobe's.

Kobe 06-07 defensive win shares: 2.2
KD 13-14 defensive win shares: 4.4

inb4 someone posts Kobe's RAPM and it's -5 :lol

Durant has been pretty decent on defense this year and I dont see any reason that Kobe's substantially better defense actually affected games substantially more than Durant. Durant was just better this year. :confusedshrug:

It's sad that the myth of Kobe being a good defender post-Shaq is still being spread around.

He is a good defender. But let's be honest. Guard defense isnt as important as post defense.

Kobe from 08 to 10 was still one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.

Okay okay okay, he had years of being an above average defender like 2007-2008, and 2008-2009. Let's not start spewing that Kobe hate now, stick to facts.

This particular year though, 06-07, was one of Kobe's worse defensive seasons. Half of that was because he carried so much of the offense, he just took off plays on the other end to save energy. And the other half is, because he just displayed bad defensive tendencies in that year (and the previous year).

.....still. KD has never been as elite a defender as Kobe from 1999-2001.

No he wasn't, not in 2010 at least. He had great moments of defensive prowess, like locking up Westbrook in the playoffs, but he wasn't consistently hounding players up like Tony Allen, Iggy, Wade, Bron.

Soooo....do you just have a loose definition of "best"? Or.......?

One of the 5 best. Iggy, Sefolosha, and Allen were definitely better. Lebron though? Nah.

Okay. Where's your empirical evidence? Facts only, none of that subjective "I watched Kobe trust me he was better" shit :oldlol:

The problem is that you're seeking empirical evidence from Kobe apostles.
