That's the face of the best shooter in the NBA. And one of the best in the history of basketball.

Troy Daniel has made a D-league record, 240 3 pointers in just 48 GAMES on 40% shooting from 3.  :wtf:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/nbdl/players/d/danietr01d.html

To compare, Steph Curry, one of the greatest in NBA history made 272 3's in 78 games.

I don't think Curry could even make THAT many 3's in so few games.
Say what you want about the D-league, but guys are playing for checks and guys are hustling for their careers.

Now Daniels, in actual NBA games right now, is shooting a ridiculous 48% from 3 on 12-25 from 3 in just 5 games playing 15 MPG.

He's on pace to make more than 900 3's in a full season. Now I know he wouldn't make that many, but he'd easily break the record if he were playing for the sixers a full season.

Best 3 point shooter in the NBA by far. It's not close.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/danietr01.html

He's our quiet X-factor.

So how many well known NBA shooters do you think are definitely better than this guy. I don't see Mike Miller even coming close to his feats for instance.

Korver? He's a low volume shooter.

Ray Allen? :oldlol: Not even in his prime.

Oh no, he's literally poor to average at everything else but shooting. But he's shooting 48% in the 5 straight games so far from 3.

You can't just ignore that..................

And he's done well enough to get signed by the Rockets guarunteed for two full seasons. He's not just a call-up............. Has has one elite skill.....

enough for this scrub to steal lins playing time in the horrible morey ball system.
yes he IS a great shooter but it remains to be seen if he can pull this of in the NBA or even the playoffs

Well, this is a start. I can reply to this.

Lin is almost definitely playing 28+ minutes a game. McHale definitely doesn't trust Daniels. He'll probably get 5-10 minutes to chuck 3's and we'll see where that goes.

Hey, there's a guy on your roster that, from what I understand, Rockets fans...aren't really a fan of. It's this Taiwanese-American kid named Jeremy Lin. He averaged a triple double in the D League.

Actually he didn't.

He did it for ONE game in one season :lol

He was an 18-5-4 guy in the d-league.

And shooting, out of ALL the things done in basketball can translate easier than anything else. Second is probably passing.

He might be comparable when it comes to straight up jump shooting but Steph is a better pure shooter. Steph has probably the best touch on his shot that I have ever seen. That is why he is so good at floaters, off balance 3's, quick release over bigs, etc. The difficulty of the shots that Steph makes is a clear indication that he is the best pure shooter in the league.

i would be happy if this happens.
Lin should play 35 tho. the lineup with him beverley harden Jones/Parsons and Howard is BY FAR AND AWAY the best Rockets lineup.
Lin can defend the bigger guards or the ones who are to fast/strong for beverley, beverley can try to disrupt the ballhandler and fly all over the place, harden can coast on defense and guard SF which he is better at than guarding SGs. Jones and Howard defend the Big men.
on offense Lin and harden play PnR with Howard and Jones while beverley spots up. but knowing McFail he will give Lin around 20 minutes per game and bench him for every mistake or missed shot as usual:facepalm

Yes I know, and he technically averaged a triple double in the D League that season just like Troy Scrub is the best shooter in the NBA :facepalm

hasn't ever played a game in the NBA either :facepalm

If you would have read, you would know that Daniels has indeed played 5 NBA games in 15 MPG so far.

espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/2489530/troy-daniels

And Daniels has made 240 3's in 48 games in the DL. Hardly comparable to Lin's 1 game sample. But this really isn't about Lin.

Yeah Lin should have a field day on Portland tbh, they have no perimeter D and he killed them last time. He'll blow by Lillard with ease. Lin is gonna have a great playoff.

Ok, I was wrong about the never played a game in the NBA thing. My point is it's ludicrous to call him the best shooter, as good/better than Curry, especially when comparing the two players' NBA track records. It honestly doesn't matter what kind of records he set in the D League.

BTW, you seem to be one of the more reasonable, level-headed Rockets fans around here and I commend you for that.

Yeah I think Curry's accomlishments alone give him a pretty nice edge. But I just made an overstatement so people could click and see just how great this guy is at shooting.

He was on the rockets d league affiliate who experiment with a ludicrous amount of 3 point attempts, right? He would not break records on the sixers unless they changed their system.

Btw 240 in 48 games is ****in ridiculous. Nice efficiency too

this can only happen if mcfail and harden let him off the leash.
but then again, if they dont, they will lose in 6. if they let lin get a rythm and play extended minutes portland has zero chances and the rockets will win in at most 6 games

No issues with him taking so many 3s, just can't fall in love with them. Sooner or later NBA defense is gonna read him well, and whether or not he can capitalise on that to his advantage will determine if he can stay in the L.

Daniels is a >40% shooter from 3? Big deal. Here are 20 others from this season alone (with a sample size slightly larger than 5 games, lol)

1. Kyle Korver-ATL .472
2. Pablo Prigioni-NYK .464
3. Mike Miller-MEM .459
4. Anthony Morrow-NOP .451
5. Jose Calderon-DAL .449
6. Jordan Farmar-LAL .438
7. Marco Belinelli-SAS .430
8. Arron Afflalo-ORL .427
9. Patrick Mills-SAS .424
10. Stephen Curry-GSW .424
11. Klay Thompson-GSW .417
12. Spencer Hawes-TOT .416
13. Danny Green-SAS .415
14. Khris Middleton-MIL .414
15. Anthony Tolliver-CHA .413
16. Richard Jefferson-UTA .409
17. Ryan Anderson-NOP .408
18. Goran Dragic-PHO .408
19. Trevor Ariza-WAS .407
20. Carmelo Anthony-NYK .402

Did OP start watching basketball like last week and is impressed by the first random guy he saw hitting threes?

edit...OP calling Korver a low volume shooter? You serious? Being in the top 20 in 3pt attempts per game is "low volume" now? Why the brain dead trolling? Just make a thread about that Daniels dude, say he was good in the D-League and could have the potential to become a regular NBA bench player maybe. Why the troll stuff with Curry, Korver and so on? Not necessary.

YOU THINK SHOOTING AND MAKING 40% OF YOUR 3'S ON 12.5 ATT PER GAME IS JUST SOME RANDOM AVERAGE THING? PLEASE EXPLAIN.

Compared to shooting 12.5 3's per game on 40%, shooting 5 on 47% is pretty ****ing low volume.

No one plays defense in the D-League, that one three he made tonight to win the game was more impressive than every 3 pointer he made in the D-League combined.
