View Full Version : Redemption For Kevin Durant?

After LeBron's 2011 choke job against Dallas, we saw him come back the next season and redeem himself with an epic playoff run capped off with a FMVP.
Will we see Durant do the same after his 2013 choke job against Memphis? He has already secured the MVP and many people are picking his team to win the west. Lucky for KD, he gets to go right back at Memphis in the first round.
Does he gets his redemption?

So are you picking OKC to win the west but not the title?
I'm saying KD will definitely get his revenge on Memphis. I'm picking them to win the west too. I'd say they also have a great chance at the title.

He'll at least get to the WCF, no doubt. People keep talking about the media sleeping on the Spurs, but the truth is they're sleeping on the Thunder. I doubt he'll choke the 4th quarters again like he did against the Grizz, but anything's possible.
It all depends on how KD wants to be remembered. If he wants to be considered better than prime Kobe/LeBron like some OKC fans insist he is, he has no excuses not to win a ring w/ this squad. To be considered top 15-20, he doesn't have to win a ring this year (still plenty of time for him) but should at least make it to the WCF.

James' 2011 finals performance is a few tiers worse than Durant's 2013 on the choke scale. They're not really comparable.

He has looked very tired and off his MVP level of play the last month or so.

I think they win the West and lose in the Finals to Miami again. It's what I am hoping for also. I don't think I can watch another Finals where the refs rig it for the Spurs.

I think SAS is getting a little overrated here. I would have no faith in them beating the thunders. That match up just never goes their way. I'd give LAC a better chance of beating OKC.

I'd personally LOVE to see a Heat/Clippers finals.

Clippers or OKC is good in my book. Would be interesting seeing the Clippers make it to the Finals. A lot of Hollywood potential with LeBron, CP3, Blake, etc. OKC has talent, but it's OKC. The s.hitty city takes a little out of the matchup.

I don't think I could stand watching an OKC finals. The way Miami gets no calls and OKC gets every call would just make it unbearable to watch.

A Heat vs Spurs finals would be ideal for me. There's very few times in nba history, in which a great finals series can have a rematch the following year. So many things have to go right for both teams

OKC didn't really have a much of a shot against Memphis without Westbrook, especially with Durant's team mates turning into scrubs (Ibaka missed like 5 open dunks) and the whole Memphis team swarming him. Durant still put up 29-10-7, albeit on low percentages.
LeBron, on the other hand, only needed to show up for Miami to win. Instead, he was frozen out to the perimeter by the Dallas zone and put up 18 points in the finals.
As I said, not comparable. Durant's 2013 performance was more akin to LeBron's 2010 performance. The 2011 finals stands alone on the choke scale.

If Durant does not win a title, his career is done.
