View Full Version : OKC is title favorite per SC fan vote

JT123
04-18-2014, 03:44 PM
29 percent of fans are picking OKC as the title favorite, with the Miami Heat second at 26 percent. The rest of the results can be found on the SportsCenter twitter page. This just proves what I've been saying all season, and the fans all agree that the Thunder have a more stacked team than the Heat. Anything less than a title and Durant's season is an epic failure.

As far as the championship or bust thing... I agree and disagree at the same time.

I've seen OKC fans on here claiming that KD > prime Kobe and prime LeBron just based on what we've seen from him this season (not even counting any previous seasons or playoff stats). If we are holding KD to that standard, of course it's ring or bust.

Most sports analysts don't hold KD to that level of expectations though. I've never seen a legit sports analyst say that KD right now > prime Kobe or LeBron, only OKC stans. That's why it's really not ring or bust for KD... you only say that to the extreme fans who are trying to overrate the hell out of him.

LeBron stans proving his rings don't mean shit.

How can you still be so insecure? Asterisk rings can do that to a fanbase.

LeBron still doesn't get any credit and rightfully so.

He'll end his career with 2 asterisk rings and will be remembered for his colossal choke jobs.

Kevin Durant is the face of the NBA. ESPN is already riding the MJ/Durant train. They tried it with LeBron and failed miserably because of his passive/choking nature.

Durant will actually live up. Come see me in 7 years. Bump mode f*ggots.

But we only have the GOAT, 2 other all-stars/future HoFs, GOAT 3pt shooter, solid roleplayers and the best defense in the league when it's on.

How are we even supposed to compete with ultra stacked squads like Pacers, Thunder, Spurs or Clippers?

If LeBrone James wins he will be even further in the lead as the GOAT

No doubt..

Stacked team in the weakest conference of all time... and that's not even exaggerating.

If LeBron only manages two asterisk rings then his career will be just a joke.

Great talent and athletic freak... but the way his NBA career has panned out is tragic. Choking, leaving your hometown/colluding, all his media moments..... I'm sorry but Ray Allen cant save his WHOLE career....

Ray Allen hitting that shot was just a temporary bandage...

This is the highest peak LeBron will ever reach. Not very satisfying is it? Especially for a guy blessed with this kind of athleticism and talent

The Thunder aren't even a lock to beat the Grizzlies. But I will say this: If the Thunder do pull it off, it's gotta be the hardest run to the title by any team ever. They would have to beat the Grizzlies(low seed, but still a solid team), the Clippers most likely(a good team), probably the Spurs(we all know what they're capable of), and either the Heat or Pacers. That is not an easy run at all.

Let alone doing it with just one all star and a starter playing 3000 total minutes that year (which no player has ever won the chip doing in the last decade)

If Durant pulls this off it solidifies him as top 10 all time at age 25.

To go through this sort of competition with maybe the worst coach in the NBA would be the greatest achievement the NBA has ever seen....

Everyone knows Scott just runs the offense through Durant and hopes everything goes OK... and 99% of the time it does. And NO presence down low? WOW.

This ring will be equivalent to like 4 rings.

Kobe ring-padded with Shaq... You mean to tell me this one ring isn't equivalent to 4 of Kobes? It will be.

No one has ever done with a weak head coach against this sort of competition. It's unheard of in the NBA.

Coaching and low post presence are insanely important in the playoffs....

It would be the greatest run for any perimeter player for sure. And I've yet to see a big man win against this type of competition with a weak head coach.

Having D-Wade and Bosh, + elite perimeter D + elite 3pt shooting + great coaching minimises 'LeBrons' rings. Just deal with reality here.

D-Wade has a top 5 run for a perimeter player and a very valuable ring...

Perkins is your post presence. He is the Dwight Stopper and will bother the front court of the Grizzlies as well.

Let's see how Thunder's big 3 stack up vs. Heat's big 3:

Durant = Goat, LeBron = choker, useless player. Advantage thunder
Wade = 19/4/4 this year, Westbrook = 21.8/7/6. Westbrook is top 5-7 in league. Advantage Thunder
Bosh = 16.2, 6.6 reb Ibaka = 15.8, 8.8 reb: Advantage Thunder

Clearly the Thunder have the advantage here. Despite that, I still have no doubt that the Heat will face the Spurs in the finals since Durant already has enough trouble choking against the Grizzlies. The GOAT can't choke in the 2nd round

Durant is the best player on the planet then according to you.

D-Wade is saved for the playoffs. That's one guy where regular season stats mean jack shit. Bosh is a better basketball player than Ibaka... blocked shots =/ great defense and that's really the only argument you could make for Ibaka being better than Bosh....I would swap IBaka for Bosh in a ****ing heartbeat.

He's a guy who can hit clutch shots when you need and will always draw offensive attention because of his versatility

There's more to a team than the talent they have. It's also about how the fit into the system. I agree Bosh > Ibaka, and if I was a GM, I would take Bosh first. If I already had 2 options like Westbrook/Durant, or LeBron/Wade, you are better having a player like Ibaka as a third option opposed to bosh. The reason is the rebounding/defense. Bosh can't put up the same numbers as he did in Toronto because the offense is running through Wade/LeBron. You could argue that Ibaka would have higher PPG if he was playing on a team where he was the first/second option (much like Bosh). Believe it or not, I think a lot of Heat fans would swap Bosh for Ibaka assuming Ibaka's #s stay the same as they are on the Thunder. His rebounding/blocked shots is more beneficial to a team like the Heat who are last in the league in offensive rebounds. Bosh is necessary for the games where Wade is out. As far as necessary production, Ibaka's production would be more beneficial to the Heat than Bosh's.

As far as Westbrook vs. Wade, well your boy Durant straight up said that Wade shouldn't be considered top 10 in the league and Westbrook should take his spot. I'll consider Wade and Westbrook to be pretty equal overall, especially if Wade is healthy but I'd still give Westbrook the slight edge for his athleticism/fearlessness vs. Wade's age.

Wade is just a bigger/more efficient/less mistake prone version of Westbrook.

He's naturally a better playmaker, finisher, and defender because of his size/length. And dude, if you think Westbrook is better now because of Wade's health/decline whatever.... then that's fine. But he sure as hell wasn't when the Heat won their championships... Ibaka sure as hell wasn't better than Bosh either and still isn't..... OKC role players sure as hell weren't.. production wise and just judging from the eye-test. and we already know the coaching wasn't... so what's with you shitting on Durant for not having won yet? He has never had the best team around him and you could only start making the argument THIS YEAR, and it's still a weak argument considering what I expect from Wade/Bosh and all those nasty perimeter defenders and clutch 3pt shooters....

Don't worry these same people who pick OKC will pretend that Miami was always the favorites if Miami wins this year...just like they pretended that Miami was the favorite in 2012 when OKC was.

Of course prime Wade > westbrook. We're talking about arguably the guy w/ the GOAT finals performance. Westbrook this year > Wade last year. Wade in the playoffs last year was good for 16/4/4. Westbrook is beyond that.

But people comparing current Wade to Flash wade are kidding themselves. It's just like the people who say having Ray Allen is stacked even though he's a shadow of his former self.

Not talking about prime Wade....

20/4/4 on 54% is better than Westbrook and we know playoffs are the only thing that matter for Wade.....

Come on.

Do stats tell the whole story?

Durant is the best player on the planet then according to you.

D-Wade is saved for the playoffs. That's one guy where regular season stats mean jack shit. Bosh is a better basketball player than Ibaka... blocked shots =/ great defense and that's really the only argument you could make for Ibaka being better than Bosh....I would swap IBaka for Bosh in a ****ing heartbeat.

He's a guy who can hit clutch shots when you need and will always draw offensive attention because of his versatility

Ibaka is still incredibly raw. He has no post moves, terrible hands, bad finisher, and weak man to man D......

Don't get me wrong hes a good player but not better than Bosh.... that's laughable
Perfect description of Bosh. :lol Only thing Bosh has over Ibaka is 3 point shooting.

Heat fans scared of the moment Durant wins one and then everyone looks back and realizes after LeBron lost in the Finals with Cleveland he bitched out and took the shortcut while Durant simply elevated his game and won with the team that drafted him putting him at minimum ahead of LeBron on all all time lists.

What Bosh did in Toronto is irrelevant. Since he has been in a Miami Heat uniform he can't do shit in the post against anyone that is even remotely decent! Somebody do me a favor and find some footage of Bosh dominating someone in the post while in a Miami Heat uniform. :lol You won't find it cause it doesn't exist.

I guess you really didn't watch the 2012 Finals. Bosh single-handedly owned OKC frontcourt in the post, yes, that includes Ibaka, Collision, and Perkins.

That was 2 years ago, maybe Ibaka is on Bosh level now. I don't know...we'll have to see when they face in the Finals.

Bosh had a good series, but that doesn't mean he owned anyone in the post. :oldlol: Bosh scored his points the same way he always does, open jump shots created by Lebron and Wade. I'm still waiting for someone to post the footage of Bosh dominating in the post. :confusedshrug:

Dirk's run > Durant's

He beat Kobe, and your GOAT boy Durant and LeBron/Wade.

Also, Dirks' run actually happened whereas Durant's is still hypothetical.

Not for nothing, but I wouldn't boast about Dirk beating a one-legged Kobe or 22 year old KD.

It's not the same as saying he beat prime Kobe or KD, which is clearly what you are trying to do.

And I don't see why. Beating prime Bron/Wade/Bosh is all the validation Dirk's run needs.

lol the amount of cringe in this post is ridiculous. Even if Durant wins a ring this year, his run isn't better than Dirk's and he needs at least 6 FMVPs to be a GOAT candidate GTFO out of here w/ this bullshit you're spewing :lol

Not sure how you can come to that conclusion when KD's playoff run hasn't even happened yet.

If KD puts up his season averages in the playoffs en route to a title, not sure how that doesn't compare to Dirk's.

He would have gotten MVP, FMVP, and the scoring title all in the same year.

I agree though that anyone saying KD is automatically Top 10 with merely one ring is idiotic :facepalm

Hmmm no, Bosh did own the post vs OKC. He strictly played inside in that series, outrebounded Ibaka-Perk-Collison in at least 2 of the games and matching their combined effort in another game. Bosh was the x-factor in that series.

Bosh was the reason why LeBron was living inside the paint that entire series.

If you actually watched that series you'd wouldn't be asking for footage.
