Top 10 and damn it would be fun to watch him vs LeBron and Durant

How concrete is his spot in the top 10?
Is he definitively better than (in no order):
Durant
Lebron
CP3
Westbrook
Melo
Curry
Blake
Love
Davis
Aldridge
Dirk
Duncan
Parker
Dwight
Noah
PG
Wade
Jefferson
Cousins
Or a better question, which of those guys is he clearly better than?

Peak Paul Pierce is better than almost everyone on that list.
Only guys I'd take over him for sure would be Lebron/Durant...probably Paul, but it would be really close. Love is so hard to properly place...he might be better, but I'd still take Pierce. He's definitely better than melo was or dirk was this year.
some of those on the list aren't even remotely close like current wade, paul george, cousins, aldridge...etc.

would probably take him over paul even
He'd be around the level that Luol Deng has been the past several years (maybe not counting this year). Paul Pierce would be below Paul George and Melo. 5th best SF.

I know Aldridge isn't better than peak Pierce, but we're severely overrating Pierce if we're gonna say it's not even remotely close.
Aldridge put up 23/11/3/1/1 with 21.8 PER while leading his team to 54 wins - ties for 4th in one of the strongest conferences of all time, and tied with the defending champs' record.
Also, what about Steph, putting up 24/4/9/2 on 47/42/89 shooting with 24.1 PER? Or Melo at 27/8/3/1/1 on 45/40/85 shooting with 24.4 PER. Or Love, who despite having several question marks attached to him, is putting up 26/13/4/1/1 on 46/38/82 shooting with 26.9 PER.

pierce at his best put up 26/7/6 w/ very good defense on great defensive teams.. definitely better than love, melo and curry.

Nope. Hate for CP3 is disgusting on ISH, and it needs to stop. So disrespected it's borderline sickening. It shows me an alarming lack of basketball IQ of posters on here who hate on him.
Incredible player, fiercly competitive, intelligent and an immaculate floor general. When he had his knees in better health, he was even more electrifying. He's even a fantastic, and underrated defender.
Contemporary poor man's Isiah Thomas. CP3 has had an actual legit MVP season, in a season where his STIFF competitors were prime Kobe, prime KG, and emerging prime LeBron putting up 30 / 7 / 7.
Chris Paul is better than Paul Pierce.

A lot of revisionist history here regarding Pierce. Yes I agree prime Pierce would most likely be top 10, top 15 for sure, but to say he would for sure be better then players like Curry, Anthony, Blake, and Aldridge and it's not even close? :facepalm
Pierce is one of my favorite and most respected players but theres way too much over-rating right now.

You're such a fake poster. You aren't going to be executed for saying Harden is a top 15 player. I know you hate him and all but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be on the list.

The truth, I'd actually say top five right now if peak Pierce dropped into the league.

I usually find myself defending paul on this forum but I am caught up in the moment and have to give pierce his props.

Why would a role player deserve to be mentioned next to Paul Pierce? Every guy I mentioned is/was an all-star or an all-star caliber player.

Not one GM in the league would take Pierce over Griffin, Aldridge, or Anthony Davis (unless they already have a great big).

Harden is a 2x all-star and It's his 5th year in this league. Youre calling him a role player and giving absolutely no evidence as to why he is one. 25/6/5 on a 54-28 team. His defense is terrible and disgusting, yes, but it doesn't mean he shouldn't be atleast top 15.
Anyone can say the same thing as you did in your post
LeBron is a role player.. he sucks
KD is a role player... he sucks
Blake Griffin is a role player... he sucks
CP3 is a role player he sucks
etc, etc, etc...
You can do that for anyone in this league if you don't give any evidence as to why they are just role players.

Do you really want me to pull out the defense-adjusted stats for Harden again? We've had this discussion several times, and you've lost every time.

and you call me the loser. Please Milbuck... keep going. I love how your stupid when it comes to talking about Harden. You're a good poster outside of this Harden bullshit, idk why you act like an ass when we talk about him.
I don't have a mother anymore, btw. She died when I was 7.

I won't post Harden's defense-adjusted stats.

LMA is shooting 50.7% TS this year and is on a pretty poor defensive team. No way is current LMA as good as peak Pierce.
Melo? Nah...but I'm biased here...don't really like how Melo plays.
Curry? Having a great year, just don't think he's better than peak Pierce.
I mentioned Love...I just don't know how to rank him. i've never seen him play a playoff game.
Pierce had a 2 year stretch in 02 and 03 in the playoffs in which he was a;
26/9/5 54% TS player who also played very good individual and team defense. And he did that offensively in a tough as shit defensive era as well.
Nothing against some of the guys in the game now, but I just think Pierce is under-rated.

Paul, Pierce.....Is so, FLAGRANTLY overrated on these boards it's not even funny...His actual production in his "peak" has a hell of alot of variance.
And he was a turnover machine, who lacked playmaking ability(for his insane usage, that varied) and possibly stat padded on some god awful teams. Worse than any of Love's and probably a tier below Davis's Pelicans.
Pierce was a very good individual offensive player, but you are right that he didn't make others much better.
But, he actually did defend...and he defended well. So I think it balances out and from reading this thread...seems like he's properly rated.
He'd be somewhere between the 4th and 9th best player in the league or something right now at his best.
Again...this is peak Paul Pierce...not average Pierce.
It's not like Griffin, Love, WB, Melo, Dirk, Duncan, Curry, Harden..etc...all don't have serious flaws in their games as well. Paul Pierce at his best was as good or better than all of those guys are currently.
Only 2 guys in the current league are better than Pierce at his best...again, I'd rank Paul over him as well, but it's not a complete landslide....CP3 is definitely a better player overall, but this isn't CP3 at his best this season either imo.
Jesus...I'm typing this as I'm watching my recording of the Nets game earlier. Pierce just took over when it got close at the end. Just said...okay...game over...I'm going to dominate for the last 3 minutes and end this shit.
That's the kind of offensive player he was...not many guys can do crap like that consistently...and he's definitely one of them. Perhaps he still is if he's rested going into the 4th qtr of games...
