We had Tony Allen lockin KD down pretty well (mainly 3rd q) and Klay did a good job on Paul when he guarded him.

Who is the best lockdown defender in the NBA, and in these playoffs?

Even better than Scottie or Michael Cooper or Gary Payton?

Very tough question. It's between Kawhi and Buckets for me.

Well this all going to be opinion based obviously but I'll assume were talking about perimeter wing defenders, and based on what I hear and reputation:

Kawhi Leonard
Jimmy Butler
Klay Thompson
Tony Allen
Demarre Carrol
Luol Deng
Paul George
Lance Stephenson
Lebron James
Andre Iguodala
Thabo Sefolosha

And then there's the young guys on Charlotte, Gilchrist and Jeffrey Taylor, but have no idea how good they are.

But what exactly is the criteria for quality wing defenders lol.

Iguodala is the best overall perimeter defender, but in terms of just lockdown on-ball defense, Jimmy Butler is probably the best.

There's so many to name. Such as Kawhi Leonard, Tony Allen, and Andre Iguodala are first three names that come to me.

Thabo imo has lost a step this year. Not as good as recent years.

Kawhi and Butler definately the best Lebron defenders

How about defending KD, we saw Allen do pretty well today for a stretch and i can remember earlier this season and last Paul George played solid D on him. + also Corey Brewer did a great job on KD early this season.

KD only scored 30 tonight so I think you have to mention Tony Allen here. Dude is a workhorse on defense, all over the place.

Jimmy Butler is the most patient and disciplined one that's for sure. Dude doesn't bite on punp fakes, sticks to his man without fouling or reaching, is strong enough to handle post ups and long enough to contest everything, again without fouling. The way he guards Lebron is unlike anything I have seen, he is like a robot version of a perfect defender, he makes the best decisions when he covers a superstar.

KD smoked him when they last played

KD at his best would smoke anyone, prime Pippen, MJ, GP, Moncrief, Cooper, etc included. Same goes for MJ, Kobe, Lebron, Melo, etc. When great scorers are feeling it, there's not much anyone can do.

I'm always impress at how Tony Allen plays D. He is small compared to KD, but he still gives that guy problems.

Anyway, I don't know who is the best lockdown defender. After you reach a certain level defensively, then it just depends on the matchup. It might be a cop out answer, but I think it's the truth.

meh KD torched paul george, especially in the first game.

Brewer usually does decent vs KD. but a guy who gets in KD's skin, beside the usual elite defenders, is Ariza. he bothers KD with his lenght, usually does a good job on him

i did find the game that made me think PG was a good defender on KD

although you are right, he has torched him since in every match up
