In pickup.

I'll say shit like "aiight, guys, no more shots, I'm off" and then proceed to chuck some more.

I have the audacity to get mad at NBA players chucking. :biggums:

Apparently there is a board for this, but it seems dead.

If you are open and don't shoot it and it's a shot you normally hit, you're hurting your team. Shoot outta the slump. Now, if you just jacking and a teammate has the advantage over his defender then you're chucking

Never shoot. But I still ball stop anyway.

I wouldn't consider myself a chucker, in part because I tend to play down low unless I'm playing on a team that needs me to handle the ball. I generally only take the outside shot if I'm open, but I am a heat check guy. If one or two goes down I'm taking that third shot more times than not :oldlol:

I shoot when I'm open and I drive and finish pretty often

But I always play team oriented ball.

I'll straight up steal from my own teammate if he's chucking with no regard. Has happened before

I actually want to set up my teammates in a pick up game first. If they want to shoot, I'll do it.

I haven't been really called out for chucking most of the time. Some say I'm too passive and should keep attacking because I can be deceptive and make good cuts to the basket.

I will rarely take more than 1 or 2 shots a game, unless its a fast break lay up.

But I assist on almost every basket. My passes are on point.

No, I hate chuckers, try and get the offense moving and they just throw it up no matter what. And then the typically get mad at themselves for missing and apologise but then do the same thing next possession. They also usually don't play defence.

Absolutely. I mimic Kobe on the court. I'll pass if your ****ing wide open under the basket or if Im taking a play off cuz Im tired from all my shooting. But if its game point, you can bet your life savings I'm shooting that mother****er.

Depends on who I play with, honestly. Back when I played a lot more frequently there were two groups I played with: other college kids, and faculty and staff. With the other college kids, I'd be a 3D guy, and with faculty and staff I'd chuck.

I'm pass first. I always compared my game to Kidd. I'm a point guard first, but I like to post a bit, I'm pass first, defense is important to me, and I'm well rounded. I can score, but I'm not a major scorer.

There would be a fight if you did that to me.

If I'm inside of 16 ft. with no D in my face I'm shooting. I try to play out of the post though because I have weirdly long arms and I dominate on the bounce pass from the post to a cutter. Best feeling in BBall for me is hitting a cutter with a bounce pass with my back to the basket. Just thinking about it makes me want to jog over and see who's on the blacktop now.

I'm definitely not a chucker. I'm so unselfish that I've never picked up a ball. I'm in a wheelchair.

I'm definitely not a chucker either...I prefer a more all-around game...I like to drive and dish and I like to shoot 3's. I'm good at stealing but my bad knees makes lateral movement tough so I'm not the on-ball defender I used to be. I'm good at predicting what my opponent my do so I have to plan ahead in my head like the great Larry Bird always used to say. Think a few plays ahead. I'm a pretty good shooter but I don't like pulling up in traffic because my release is slow, I shoot almost a set shot where I barely jump with a high arc on the ball..

Yeah. I'm a low IQ basketball player in-game, though I'm pretty knowledgeable watching and observing. I turn into AI without the speed and athleticism when playing.

Depends on the level of my teammates/competition. If I know I'm quicker or just plain better than the guy I'm being guarded by, I'm either driving or taking a pull back jumper.

If I'm playing with really good teammates and/or competition, I'm more likely to defer, take open threes, and just play hard on defense.

BoutPractice
04-21-2014, 10:32 AM
I tend to be very conscious about sharing the ball, as it dramatically improves your chances of winning the game. My experience is that when you pass the ball, not only do other players pass you back, but they defend better and generally become more involved.

But if my teammates keep missing, I'll become more aggressive, and if I'm playing with irredeemable chuckers (you can identify them pretty quickly) I'll start chucking myself, thinking that at least my shots can't be lower percentage than theirs. Chucking has a contagious quality... The worst chuckers I will freeze on purpose, even if they're open, just to piss them off.

KobesFinger
04-21-2014, 10:34 AM
No, I have pretty shitty stamina so when I get tired I save all my energy to D up. I don't have the energy to chuck. I don't play point either so I typically score off cuts, put backs and open shots.

I was playing full court 5 on 5 last weekend and I had a guy on my team who was really good but was a ball hog. No clock, so he'd try dribble around everyone, doing and-1 moves. All eyes were on him so I was cutting backdoor waving my hands and jumping to get his attention but he wasn't looking.

I don't shoot unless it's a baseline jumper and I'm mostly open, because I usually hit those.

I play PG and have shot over 20 FG a few times, worst shooting in official games being 10/27 and 7/20 :facepalm. At the time I seriously couldn't imagine anyone could shoot any worse than that.

The most FG I have attempted in a game is 29 but I made 17 so it wasn't so bad.

Hell No. I was benched back in 6th grade when we had a super stacked team. I am currently the 3rd scoring option 14.9 ppg on 50 FG% (6/12 fg's attempts per game). 22 minutes per game.

If I got an open shot, I'm gonna take it. I practice strict shooting at the gym like 5-10 hours a week.

I played a game of 21 with some dudes at the gym the other day and got my score up to 60 before anyone even reached second place with 21. I just got hot from 3. It was badass, because like 6 months ago I would be lucky to hit 2 out of 10 FT's and had a shitty ass shooting form.

I used to be great at everything but shooting but now shooting is the best part of my game so yeah, I'm gonna shoot the ball at will if given the chance to do so.

I get mad when people don't pass me the ball

like **** you *****, I'm not going to be running up and down the court & putting all my energy on defense while your shitty ass is throwing up airballs

I look to shoot, I don't care who's on me. When I'm feeling it, I might shoot a J from half court and swish that mutha****a...

But I'm also a great passer, if I see someone giving great effort on defense and playing with as much passion as I am, I won't mind giving them the ball.

It's all about teamwork, but imma get mine too.

If my defender doesn't realize I can't go left, I am pretty hard to stop. For a shorter dude, I am pretty hard to stop going right.

But once they figure it out... I can't take anyone 1on1. It's just the way it is. So I get a lot of points by moving w/out the ball and hitting midrange jumpers. I'm like the short white playground version of Rip Hamilton.

But I will never chuck unless I make 3 in a row. Then I will not stop shooting until I miss. I'm honestly not that good at basketball (being under 6 foot and not that athletic makes it pretty hard), but if I get hot I get scalding. I've played pickup games where I hit 4 or 5 in a row, and then literally just started jacking up everything and make like 15 straight points on 25 footers and whatever I felt like. It's freakish actually, people get confused and pissed off. "This kid couldn't do shit last game wtf is this"

That and for whatever reason I am absolutely cash on game-winners. If it's game point I am stubborn as shit and demand to shoot it every time.

I rather win then take a lot of shots. I dribble it up and find an open man. I tend to chuck in half court games however with teams of 3 or 2

Boarder Patrol
04-21-2014, 02:34 PM
I pretty much only focus on defense and rebounding. I'm not that tall but I'm usually the best rebounder on the floor, and play solid defense. I can't shoot for s.hit though, so I'll usually pass it out unless it's an open layup (even though my 2 most frequent teammates are 3-pt. jackers), we'll just shoot till we get hot and win.

Apparently there is a board for this, but it seems dead.

Shooting is fun to do alone. Not as fun to do in games. It's more fun to trick people and bang. I spend most of my games pushing people around or pretending I'm going to shoot then passing it.

It's too funny that I'm like Isiah Thomas (the kings one) height and I am always going in the paint and throwing my body against people. I dunno why, but that shit is funny. It's funny to see people get taken out of their game and it's fun to clown people with passes. The shot is just like the finishing move...

I approach bball differently, obvi.

If someone is a chucker, assuming they're not someone who is a ****... I am gonna give them the ball until they are tired of shooting. Might take one game but they will adjust. I AM MASTER MAESTRO.

Edit: Oh, if it's shot for game I am shooting it. Even if I haven't shot or missed every shot up until that point, unless something is obvious, if I have a little bit of space.. I'm shooting that bitch.
