6 is a good night. I try to sleep in Sunday and get my 8-9 hours to catch up on all the crap I put my body throughout the week. Feel refreshed today because of the sleep I got Saturday night.
If I were to get 8, it would be awesome. Unfortunately my body won't allow me to sleep till 2 even if I try.

That's what I did yesterday. I must have slept 12 hours yesterday and that included a couple of naps throughout the day. Felt great but it messed me up cause I went to bed very late last night.

7 or more. If I don't get at least 6, I can't concentrate in class and end up nodding off. This is made worse by the poor ventilation in the rooms.

Yes this is true...even though many people think that drinking helps them sleep.
It might help you get to sleep in the first place, but the problem is that you'll never get to stage 4 sleep (or whatever it is...the deepest level of sleep) and you'll just keep waking up throughout the night.

Does that have to do with peeing a lot? Cause I wake up to pee all the time. At least once or twice a night. But I'm in my 30's so that could be something else.

I thought it was normal :confusedshrug:
If I could just sleep through the whole night and never wake up once, that'd be pretty cool.
And I don't drink alcohol much so that is not it. I just think it is a common thing.

varies immensely. I can't sleep like when I was younger, tho. In school, I would come home, go to sleep, wake up, do some shit at night, go back to sleep til morning, and sleep a bit during school if there was a study hall.
I can't sleep more than 8 or 9 hours, but shit gets to where I can sleep literally 3 no matter how tired I am. It's like clockwork. 3 hours later, I wake up.

That would be kidneys, not liver. If diabetes runs in your family, it's time to get a check up. Waking up/night time urination doesn't mean you have diabetes but it could be a prediabetic symptom. Or it could be something else entirely.
Probably a good idea to schedule a physical and bring this up if you haven't had it checked out before.

No matter what time I sleep, I wake up at 6:30 - 7:00 a.m. For example I sleep at 10 pm at night I wake up at 6:30 - 7:00 a.m. If I sleep at 12 am I still wake up at 6:30 - 7:00 a.m.
If I go night out during that evening I usually get home by 6:00 - 7:00 am. I only get 3-4 hours of sleep and wake up around 10 - 11 am.

4-5 hours. Gotta love that military life  I do get to sleep for like 8 hours after I pull a 24 hour CQ shift. I'm actually on one right now. Pretty much just answering phone calls, checking around the building, etc. for 24 hours straight. First couple of times are grueling, but you get used to it.

My eratic sleep schedule will likely be the death of me (no joke). I haven't been able to develop fluidity in my sched for years. Even as a kid, I had always been a total night owl. It's not uncommon for me to go to work or school on like 2 hours or less. Im a nocturnal being in every sense of the word.
With that said, I love sleep too...
If there was a competition for staying up, I could probably give any non-insomiac a run for their money...

What's the longest you've ever stayed up? I once did 31 hours straight back in '99.

Around 8 on average.
I'd like to get 9 every weekday though and then get a little less on the weekends if anything is going on... I feel like that's a better balance than not getting as much during the week feeling all tired and worn down at work/school/gym/whatever you are doing and catching up on the weekends.
Bottom line though, I need about 9 in order to function optimally. My body is naturally pretty depressed with bursts of energy so sleep is necessary.

I did 66 hours once a few years back as an undergraduate. Woke up Tuesday morning, went to bed Friday (stayed up a bit past midnight on Thursday). By the end of it I was full on auditory and visual hallucinations, delerium, and shit not unlike an extremely unenjoyable psychedelic.

I think I might have done 72 hours once...with a few really short naps scattered in there though, probably not more than 3-4 hours combined. Don't fully remember. Terrible and it was hard to be productive...felt like a zombie, in a complete daze by the end. No hallucinations though
About the same for me.

hah! I know man, my dad has been on the benzos for decades now and he's been trying to get off them the last couple years (was 6mg Klonopin), but still can't manage to go below 1-2mg without completely losing it. I am careful and do find them useful at times, but will never allow myself to get addicted to them. Thanks for the advice anyway though, it is very true and people should be more aware how pernicious they can be. Doctors still hand them out like candy and frequently don't warn about how addictive they are.

Come to think of it, I'm positive that I low balled myself as I'm certain I certain I exceeded the 40 hour mark. Definitely never grazed 60 like yourself though. You speak high truths. Some of the prescriptions I would see some of my former clients come in with would never seize to amaze. Just because something isn't an illcit street drug, doesn't mean it should administered without extreme caution. This shit ruins lives, and some of these docs just write their scripts headlessly. It's analogous to putting the rock in a crackheads pipe and lighting it for them.
Might I ask if your old man has ever been to detox? A decade span worth of Benzo usage generally requires a tapper (ie - being gradually weened off). The average stay at a detox centre is usually about 3 to 6 days but long term/heavy benzo users are often handled more delicately and require a longer stay, due to the intensity and dangers of the associated withdrawal.
I wish him well...

Sleep pattern varies between agegroups and it also depens on your health, but from studies i've read online here is the pattern
No data take before the age of 16
16-22= 4 hrs per night is doable
22-27= increases to 5 hours per night
27-34= goes up only 30 min per night for some reason which = to 5.5 hrs
not going to bore you with the rest of the list but between 34-67 the time varies from 6 hrs-9hrs per night. No data was taken after the age of 67 becuase you need all the rest you can get after hitting that age and beyond

I wish him well...Nah, he's never been an in-patient, though he has tapered several times, with different doctors. But he's in a stable situation now with a very good psychiatric doctor who has brought his usage down from 6+mg Klonopin to 1.5mg and he is stable at that level. But whenever he's tried to taper that last mg he's found it unbearable and unrelenting (he did 6-7 days taking none with no relief in withdrawal symptoms, and in cases of prolonged heavy use, the withdrawal period can last months). And having recently started a new high-responsibility/workload job he can't afford to let on about his condition, or take several months off to try and rehab properly. But he's producing good scientific work and feeling generally not too bad on what he's on at the moment, so there's no real need to try and force things (especially as prior to recent stable period had been like 18 months of havoc).
He's also (prior to this doctor) been horrifically mistreated, and by people who are supposed to be highly respected in their fields: one prescribed him Lexipro in combination with something i forget, that combined for a sedative effect that just had him sleeping whole days. And another, who misdiagnosed him with opiate withdrawal (taking codeine to offset withdrawal symptoms), prescribed him suboxone which resulted in him going into some kind of shock, having a mental breakdown, and checking himself into an institute for a night (a horror show according to him). I can't imagine what it felt like, but he said couldn't move and felt sure he was going to die, so not fun. I have no doubt many people have had their lives more permanently ruined by this kind of doctor incompetence, and it's sad really considering how much blind faith people place in them sometimes. You can actually get better advice on the internet a lot of the time if you know the right places to look.
Doctors can really be remarkably ill-informed when it comes to drugs. I once had a doctor prescribe me Zopiclone (vile stuff imo) saying it was like a benzo but not addictive :lol. I mean, that is next levels of incompetence.

Correct. Your sleep tends to be longer while you're younger due to your body growing as you get older.

7.5 hours a night. I am ****ed if I don't get 7 hours.
In my early 20s I ran on 5 hours every night no problem. How the **** did I do that? I could pull all nighters and be fine the next day. I tried that recently and I fell asleep eating my lunch in the afternoon--head on the table and food in my hand.
