Inevitable, really. You're not winning a championship with Mike Woodson at the helm.

Can't say I'll miss him. Hopefully they get a coach (Kerr???) that Shump can thrive under. Shump was miserable and it was obvious under Woodson, he would NEVER play consistently. No I am not overrating him to think he will be a star, I'm just saying he should become a consistent 15 pt scorer. Him and Hardaway Jr are the future... lol

Pretty lame. No one is going to win with that team. Im not even a Melo fan, and I don't blame it at all. That Knicks teams is a dumpster fire.

Bring him on. Bit hard to coach when you have JR and Felton being untalented shitheads

You know he loved JR right? He is the one who coddled JR from the start, he took him in as his project. It worked last year regular season and it blew up in his face in the playoffs. The beginning of this year, JR was shooting 30% but he was still given the green light, to shoot out of his gotdamn slump. I would bet all my gummy bears that he would have Marcus Thornton to continue shooting and shooting in Sac too if he was still there and he was coach.

Not sure why he gets so much love. He's a pretty awful coach himself.

Patrick Chewing

Woodson is a terrible coach for those defending him. This guy's play calling is atrocious and that confused look on his face doesn't help either. You can't win with Iso ball and that's all the Knicks did the last three years. His refusal to play Amare starter minutes down the stretch possibly cost this team a playoff berth. Considering how crappy Indiana is playing, this Knicks team could have done something special.

Not sure how anyone can be expected to win titles with a team that has JR Smith on it :oldlol: Dude is only human.

He would be a good fit for a team with a smart PG or floor general. But overall, he's just an assistant/defensive coach.

He's kinda like Mike Brown in way. Good defensive coaches but complete shit on the offense, so that's why scrubs like JR Smith can shoot 18 3-pointers and get away with it.

He's not even good on defense, with all his switching. He's all around shit, and both the NY and Atlanta fan bases with tell you the same thing.

Basically the only people who say he is good are those from the other 28 fan bases.

Melo has always had a >.500% winning percentage for every year of his career. Even as a rookie. Mike Woodson is the only coach in his entire life (including HS) that coached him to a sub .500 record.

i can just imagine the meeting at the bar with all the ex-staffers. "*uck Phil, that overrated *aggot!!"

This should make Jim Buss ecstatic when he rolls out of bed sometime this afternoon. He can add another ex-Knick coach to his list of potential D'Antoni replacements that isn't named Phil Jackson.

Then, he can laugh out loud, and say "Naw, we're keeping Pringles around just for sh!ts and giggles. Oh man, life is good!"

tontoz

Stupid to hire him in the first place. he sucked with the Hawks. His switch everything defense allowed the opposing offense to get any matchup it wanted. His iso heavy offense was painful to watch and fell apart in the playoffs.

Watching Woodson walk off the court during that last game against Brooklyn, he looked 150 years old.

Coaching Felton, JR Smug, Bargnani and current version of Amar'e can do that to you

Thorpesaurous

Melo at the three in the center of the triangle. Odom and Shump in the strong side of the triangle serving nominally as the four and one. Both passing and cutting, using instincts, not so bound up by their lack of shooting on the strong side. Both having opportunities at the focul point because of the hope of size mismatches. Hardaway on the weakside at SG, spacing the floor and defending on the other end. Bargnani serving as a floor spacing big.

Other end, you hope the versatility of playing Melo, Odom, Shump, Hardaway gives you enough ability to switch and pressure on defense to cover for the fact that there's no one defending the rim. Need all the perimeter guys to hit the glass, because Shump and Hardaway would have to be among the best defensive rebounding guards in the league for this to even remotely work. Odom's flexibility defensively could protect Melo more than he's had the last few years.

You'd have to figure out a way with weakside screen action and dives to make Chandler an actual offensive asset in that particular offense. Because you couldn't possibly play Bargnani more than him.

JR Smith would need to wake up defensively big time, because they'd need him to help cover for other defencies, because his offense isn't making up enough to cover for his.

Felton would be even more useless than he already was.

Amare would be worth trying in the focus when Melo was out, although while neither is a great passer, Melo has at least shown an aptitude for vision. Amare is far more tunnell visioned. But you'd be talking about 15 minutes a night tops.

And all of this is asking for a version of Lamar Odom that by all accounts doesn't exist anymore.

Unfair to fire him and his entire staff after this season, but if that's what they need to do to try to get Melo to stay, then it makes sense.

Steve Kerr and Melo would be interesting together. :lol

Rumor has it he is first in line for a coaching job should Indiana decide to get rid of Tom Crean. Which honestly I think they should. Woodson played for Indiana, and knows abotu the motion offense that made Bob Knights Hoosiers famous.

Would love to see him at Indiana myself:)
