A lot of advertising is playing on societal pressures that exist outside of advertising. It's targeted manipulation but a lot of it is pretty ineffective. The majority of advertising is simply designed for exposure. I do always find it kind of funny how places play on stereotype sometimes tho. Like how all the people in McDonald's commercials are black lol.

I visited Manhattan for the first time a few weeks ago. Times Square was visually overwhelming at first. But at some point, after gaining my wits about me, I realized that I'd pretty much been dropped into a life-sized pile of Sunday newspaper advertising pullouts. Well, partly that and partly like I was in Dave Chappelle's "If the Internet Was a Real Place" sketch.
