View Full Version : When are we gonna start shifting blame to Thibs
Granted Thibs doesn't have a lot of offensive firepower so he just relies on defense and hustle. But even hustle and defense has a law of diminishing returns. He just overworks his guys like crazy....
He didnt even rest Butler last night if i recall correctly. (Good Luck to Butler playing when he is 30 by the way).
Augustine was their only offensive threat and he was gassed in the late 4th qtr and OT because he never got a breather.
Boozer sucks and doesnt deserve the crucial minutes over Gibson but he could have relieved Noah and Gibson for a few minutes here and there to give them their explosion back when they are rested.
Thibs deserves a lot of the blame for being down 0-2.

Bulls fans already blame him. The media will blame the shit front office. Which is pretty valid.

name ONE guy from chi that you can give the ball and say "get me a good shot". There is none. Front office determines the team, thibs can do nothing about that especially with the cheap ownership. Add to that the fact that chi is built for a scorer (rose) and that player is inactive (prolly for eternity:lol ).
chi with melo/durant/lillard instead of rose would be a tough team, surely 60 win.

Gibson plays 36 min in an OT game and its the coaches fault for not playing him less? Weird.

you just answered your own question.

Gibson played like 15 mins playoff basketball all out hustle straight without any real breather... dont how conditioned you are, that will make anyone gassed.

It makes sense. But in defense of Thibs. He doesn't have the talent to think that far ahead. His players probably wouldn't be gassed by the fourth quarter, but the team would probably be down by 15.

bulls fans shouldn't blame him the media is right o this one.
He can't run anything complex on offense with that roster and he couldn't run anything more than iso-brick-rebound-putback when rose was active. CHI front office is either retarded or just plain cheap.

There are coaches that overemphasize defense. Thibs is one guy like that, and he seems to be playing guys in the 4th quarter who are known as defensive players. I'm not as familiar with the Bull's bench as some of you guys, but a guy like Boozer has been a big scorer in this league, and he is not being used correctly.
Just saying. Look at Coach Pop. He plays a balance of known offensive players(like Bellineli who the Bulls let go), Diaw, Mills, who have never been known defensive players, and Pop incorporates them into a defensive system. This way, the offense doesn't suffer.
Coach Larry Brown is very similar to Thibs in this respect. He doesn't trust too many players on his bench, just the defensive guys..

When are we going to realize everyone doesn't have to be discredited just because the team lost? Apparently never.
If you want to blame Thibodeau then you should at least talk about something he's doing wrong. I don't want to see an argument for why a coach stinks because he can't lead a team without a scorer to postseason success but you would at least have something to discuss.

I think they are using boozer correctly. They said he is a big first quarter guy, and they like to use him in the beginning of the game to get a offensive spark, then dj augustin comes off the bench as their offensive threat for the second half. The problem with the bulls is their lack of offensive power, obv. Boozer would not be able to handle the whole workload himself, he is a number 2 or 3 guy, he cant be the number 1.
Yes, but is it really workable in Playoff basketball to use a defensive lineup like that: Noah, Gibson, DJ, Hinrich, Butler? Last year, they had Nate and Bellineli to help out in creating good shots out there.
Just saying, there's just no balance. I don't know all the reasons why those above players Nate and Marco were let go, but how narrow minded can you be to think an all defensive lineup can win Playoff games in the NBA on a consistent basis?
Charles Barkley just said this series is over, and I agree.

What could you blame Thibbs for? They have no kinda offensive firepower.

As I said, other than Boozer, I'm not that familiar with the Bulls bench in terms of who else Thibs can play, but look at Pop. He seems to make good players out of the "trash" of other teams. Did anyone really think before that Mills, Diaw were still viable NBA players? Many didn't even want Bellineli, even with his performance with the Bulls in last year's playoffs.
Just saying, with Thibs, it's a mentality. He just wants defensive players, and he's not too concerned with offense, so this is what he will get... defense.
I've seen that before with the Sixers during the Larry Brown days.

I'm just blaming Thibs for not having any type of offensive sets whatsoever or not having any rotation down the stretch where he can buy his go to players some rest. He is hell bent, it seems, to live or die with the lineup all 4th quarter long without any subs.

Remember when Noah was racking up all them assists? See what happens in playoff basketball? They don't let you do the same stuff on them over and over. Wiz are a pretty good defensive team as well.

What coach turns non-scorers into scorers? They just won 48 games with Joakim Noah as their best player. Who wins without stars? If we are looking at Pop we are seeing three players in Duncan, Parker and Ginobili that are better scorers than any Bull. Of course you don't know about the Bulls' bench. There's no one on it that is even the equal of Nate Robinson as a scorer. But seeing as you don't know about them calling Thibs out for not making any of them a scorer is ridiculous. Their best scorer is DJ Augustine, the coach leads them to nearly 50 wins and you find fault with the coach? What, you think Thibs doesn't want scorers? I guess he's the GM and traded away Luol Deng. Maybe you also want to accuse him of injuring Rose while you're at it.

"Go to players?" He doesn't have any go-to players. He has some good defensive players with whom he makes do. I have never seen a team that had a good offense without any scorers. Chi is relying on assists from their center. Which actually does require some planning on offense. What you fail to realize is that offense requires something else: Talent.

Um...they only lost their freakin franchise player.
Thibs managed to turn a starting 5 that has Boozer on it into a defensive force.
For that feat alone, he should win COTY every single year.

I'm not saying Thibs hasn't done a great job, but I thought he screwed the pooch in game 2. Jimmy Butler played every minute of the game and looked completely gassed in the last 10. I know he's a proven big minute guy, but I thought he should've sat for a few (maybe 3-5 minutes to catch his breath) to start the 4th. And when no one could score in the 4th, I don't know why Thibs is soooo set in stone that Boozer doesn't play that quarter. I know Boozer sucks, but the one thing he can do sometimes is score so why not try it? Gibson had a great game but sucked in the 4th so why not pull him for a bit. I just really hate the minutes rotation of the Bulls sometimes.

my sentiments exactly. I dont care for the Bulls. I knew they werent gonna go far in the playoffs but i knew they would give a dogfight to whoever played them. Shit i expected them to win at least 1 game at home.
I expected that at least but when Thibs just coaches the way he does without any remorse for the future leaves me a little miffed about the way he treats his players indirectly for their future health. Butler especially... Just run him to the ground, Thibs. sure

Taj Gibson is a better offensive player then Boozer at this point, Big Boozes game has really fallen off this season and he doesnt show any veteran savy. He rarely finds a seem, doesn't take advantage of mismatches and often fades on jumpers when he shouldnt.
The big problem for Taj is he doesnt get the refs respect on either end of the floor and the bulls suffer because of it. hopefully when he gets his hardware (6th man) that will change. Taj regularly gets called for loose ball fouls when hustling and rarely gets the whistle unless he takes it really hard at the rim.
