He didn't even go after the ball. If this happened to Durant, it would've been called a flagrant 2 on the spot, and the he'd be kicked out for the remainder of the playoffs.

Dude, even if he did go for the ball, if his elbow incidentally touched Durants throat it would be an flagrant 2.

While on many players it would be a flagrant 2 on the spot because they wouldnt take the hit so in stride....its still just a foul in the league id like to watch. Maybe a flagrant 1 if you must....but Lebron was fine. I hate seeing people lay around trying to make shit look worse than it was.
Ive literally seen a 70 year old man fall off a roof and be on his feet faster than Lebron getting hit playing ball.
If you didnt take a shot in the balls or tear up your knee...get the hell up. Lebron takes that hit without cameras around hes on his feet right away.

so because lebron is strong, and can withstand more hits than most players a flying elbow to the throat shouldn't be a flagrant 2? you think he should just shrug it off and not try to sell it? i don't condone flopping but if you were him wouldn't you think that's counter productive? he got his nose broken in one of the biggest nationally televised regular season games this year in OKC and didn't even get a look from the ref and that has been kind of a trend lately...

If the refs are with the Heat why didnt they call this obvious flagrant foul so they Heat would be guaranteed a win?
Im tired of people complaining about the Heat. Here you are bitching about the refs after they helped save the Bobcats from what was definitely a game ending foul.
The refs suck, but they aren't rigging the game so the Heat will win. The Bobcats just suck. You dont lose 18 straight to the same team by coincidence.

Kamil, come on. Chill your shiet. It was obviously not a play on the ball. Of course Lebron sold the call a bit. Who wouldn't. You reward players in the league for selling crap, so they are going to sell it. It doesn't change the fact that McRoberts stuck his forearm out at Lebron's throat, creating a potentially dangerous situation. Not a play on the ball, potentially dangerous contact. Flagrant 2. Easy call. Should have been made during the game.

so because lebron is strong, and can withstand more hits than most players a flying elbow to the throat shouldn't be a flagrant 2?
Id say a good rule would be...make it relative. Use your common sense.
If Steph Curry puts the same effort into hitting Demarcus Cousins that cousins puts into hitting him....Cousins might not even react...but Curry is going down.
Is it "fair" to call one a flagrant 1 and one a flagrant 2? No.
Is it probably going down that way? Yep.
But in what walk of life is fairness expected?
When im playing ball with some teenagers they are more phjysical with me than I am with them. And its expected.
It applies all over the game. You dont see guys get the offensive foul when they attempt to shove a guy out of the way and fail....he tried just as hard...lacked the strength to dislodge. So it isnt a foul.
No set rule that would apply in all situations. has to be look at case by case.
you think he should just shrug it off and not try to sell it? i don't condone flopping but if you were him wouldn't you think that's counter productive?
So you dont condone flopping unless its productive?
Just say you condone flopping. Im sure that it being effective is why anyone does it.

he got his nose broken in one of the biggest nationally televised regular season games this year in OKC and didn't even get a look from the ref and that has been kind of a trend lately...

your definition of weakness is a wrong one. showing weakness is relative to what you plan to do.
Some players get calls in their favor by fouling when ref isn't looking and some people flop to get a call. how is selling a call a weakness when you are one of the best at taking hits and still finishing? i am more surprised that he hasn't flopped much this year given how little melo and lebron have been respected by the refs this year.
Melo should sell the hits he takes too otherwise he would not get the calls. Superstars during the pistons era bitched so much that rules were changed and that is why flagrant fouls are called now a days.

you win. the only people who complain about others bending the rules are the ones who are very image conscious.
Pistons bent the rules and people don't bitch about that. people called those plays manly. i didn't have the problems with those pistons and i don't have a problem with flopping as long as league doesn't change the rules.
If league suspends players for flopping then i would have a problem with it because it would be a dumb play. Setting an illegal screen that isn't called a foul is a good play but if league changes the rules that if you set more than 2 illegal screens then you would be thrown out of the game then it is a dumb play.

Good god, this needs to stop. It takes about 5 lbs of force to crush a person's larynx, that's why someone flying at another person with an elbow or forearm (it doesn't matter which) is so dangerous. And with speed of the play as it was happening there was more that 5 lbs force being applied. In situations like that, there's no telling how close a player is to having permanent damage done to them. So any nonsense about Lebron flopping or not getting up quick enough when got a ****ing forearm to throat is some utter bullshit.

I don't care whether you are 150 or 260 lbs, but getting hit in the throat by an elbow with an opposite momentum is a dangerous play. Crushed windpipe anyone?
McRoberts should not be fined, because LeBron was moderately fine? Sure, let's not fine so he can do it again next time, perhaps on some person with "weaker neck muscles" as some would say in this thread. Because that was totally intentional and there was aboslutely no effort in that move to do anything else but go after James' neck/head.

I absolutely am a narcissist. Doesnt mean that a cramp requires being carried off.
If you cant acknowledge that you have either never had a cramp or your fanhood clouds the obvious.
I dont think Lebron is soft. I think hes an actor. Too many people deal with real trauma without exaggeration for me to believe a person of his physical standing is incapacitated so easily.
If Lebron never played in the league and gets hit the way he does now playing street ball is he rolling on the ground? No. Its a pride issue. People get up. Walk it off. Hes on the ground...acting like a bitch.
What is someone even thinking about in that situation? Just...rolling on the ground? I bet the internal monologue in their minds is hilarious.

http://espn.go.com/photo/2007/0221/nba_ap_wade_275.jpg
People in the real world have had an arm blown OFF.....and pick it up with the other hand and walk off.
But we have guys 6'4'' 230 near the peak of human athletic ability and health....rolled away in a wheelchair with a shoulder injury?
These dudes are making Mt.Everest out of ant hills just to get attention but I need to be more considerate....
Im compassionate when dealing with people who are deserving of it.
Guy making 20 million to play basketball being literally carried off with a charlie horse is not one of those people.
Being a narcissist hurts your credibility. You only know how to relate things to your own personal experience. There are some things that happen to people, and these things aren't related to you. You think all cramps are the same as the cramps you've had. They are not. Your example with the arm is a bad example. You're logic is also terrible.

No. all cramps are not the same. Few things are exactly replicated. Doesnt mean similar experiences dont happen.
And anyone who lived a normal life has had worse pain than a damn cramp. Be realistic. I dont care what you call it...sciatica hurts worse than a cramp. Im in the damn emergency room standing for 3 hours because I cant sit or lay down...get a shot in my back and weeks of muscle relaxers. It hurt worse than my broken leg did. A lot worse. And I can still feel it now....over a year later.
Narcissism or whatever you wish to label it...I will not accept that a leg cramp is more debilitating. And ive had bad leg cramps just as you and everyone else here has.
This is just a case of fanhood overwhelming common sense.
In ANY other walk of life a man like Lebron gets a cramp he walk it off.
A man like Wade hurts his shoulder he is not rolled away in a wheelchair.
That isnt narcissism. Thats an honest evaluation of humanity.
Humans are NOT that easily taken out. And it takes nothing but living a normal life to see it.
This world is too full of normal people not being shaken by real trauma to keep pretending these pampered athletes have it bad over a leg cramp.

And for the record I assume the reason he was carried was to quickly get to the back for treatment to get back into the game. But a cramp is a pain issue. It isnt a torn ____.
And if you are playing basketball a moment later im gonna go on and assume you are ok. Just hurting. Which is...the human condition. I will not pretend a cramp is more than it is because it happens to someone on tv.

your posts mean nothing, as it is all speculation and opinion based...and just a quick reference to medical sites proves how much lack of "value" all of which you posted is pretty much nonsense
"There are a variety of types and causes of muscle cramps."
Link: http://www.medicinenet.com/muscle_cramps/article.htm
"Muscle cramps can last anywhere from a few seconds to a quarter of an hour or occasionally longer. It is not uncommon for a cramp to recur multiple times until it finally resolves. The cramp may involve a part of a muscle, the entire muscle, or several muscles that usually act together, such as those that flex adjacent fingers."
Link: http://www.medicinenet.com/muscle_cramps/page2.htm
how certain are you that what you saw on tv is EXACTLY what happened to you? there is no certainty and it is also well known that a cramp to your calf, in general, makes it extremely difficult to walk. this combats your notion that being carried off the court because of a cramp isn't justified. :facepalm

Andrew Bynum got ejected and suspended for 5 games when he commited a similar foul on Barea in the 2011 playoffs, the refs really should be more consistent.

Kblaze, I'm normally a fan of you on this board but you're just plain wrong about the cramps.
I've had cramps during some doubleheaders of competitive ball or tournament ball that were excruciatingly painful. I have a decent pain tolerance but I couldn't even move. I had to be carried off and eventually after 5-10 excruciating minutes it loosened up.
No way I would even think about being able to walk off on my own.
In my experience of playing ball I've seen plenty of guys get cramps and had to be taken off. Okay, not plenty.. But a good 5-10 people

Just because you haven't experienced a cramp that's painful enough to debilitate you does not mean others have not.
I've personally never had a cramp from playing ball in my life, but I've seen it happen to other people and that shit looks like it hurts a lot.
Then you have to remember everyone's pain threshold is different, even professional athletes.

Yes, I'm sure most of them would get up straight away. If they weren't 100 million dollar investments... Every precaution needs to be taken to take care of their investment.

Lebron is a diva who exaggerates contact and likes to act for the camera. Would it surprise you if he was doing the same thing in the case of his cramp?

Treating players differently because of their strength and size (like the earlier Cousins/Curry example) just promotes more flopping. It should be a policy reason alone that calls should be made objectively based on contact, not on the result, if for just that reason alone.

having a cramp is not about the pain... its the inability to move your muscles because they are cramped... not hard to understand when you cant walk because your muscles are stiff... I've had both my calves cramp pretty severely at the same time and i tried to stand up but i cant because my calves wont support me... I had to sit there for a good 10 - 20 minutes whilst getting stretched out. So next time you have a cramp good luck trying to walk it off because it doesnt happen that way.
And why should curry flagrant fouling cousins be a flagrant 1 instead of 2? A rule is suppose to enforce an action. If the enforcement is relative then it isnt a rule it becomes a guideline and you can't enforce a guideline...
You're a great poster kblaze but I just dont agree with you on this one.
