...Donald Sterling :facepalm

Who gives a ****? Yeah, he's a racist old scumbag. Tell me something I don't know. Call me when someone sees him driving through town with Chris Paul chained to his pickup truck. Then we'll talk.

Got more important things happening around the NBA.

I've seen a lot of people talking about Carter... Obviously people are going to talk about Sterling too. This is an NBA forum and Sterling owns an NBA team

Who gives a ****?
He's an owner of a sport team in a league consisting widely of coloured players. It's a huge ****ing deal.

I know everyone here likes pretending otherwise, but the Sterling story is pretty fvcking major, especially since there's the possibility that he could be handed a championship trophy if the Clippers win it all this year.

This isn't breaking news. In fact, it's very old news. When did Sterling stop being a racist asshole? Did people just forget or something?

When was the last time a 10-minute conversation of him being racist become publicly available?

The only relevant part of this story is the possibility of the Clippers boycotting. I seriously doubt it though. Doc Rivers will gather the slav- I mean troops.

I didn't need this to know he's a racist.

Exactly..racism been around for hundreds of years before the NBA and will be around hundreds of years after anyone who thinks racism is relevant nowadays dies.once cp3 and rest of the players walk out on the season tomoro then that's when it should be a headlining news (know it won't happen).

For us, it's not new news but for the media and non-fans they'll eat it up.

People just love race related topics for some reason.

'A racist old scumbag' as the owner of a large franchise is more important, in the grand scheme of everything, than people playing sports. I know he's old and has held these views for a long time (as do many other old rich and powerful people), but racism permeating through society in the 21st century is a bigger deal than a basketball game.

The Sterling story is many times a bigger deal than another game winner. A game winner in the first round of the playoff is not going to make national headlines on main stream news outlets, compared to the owner of a team in a league where 80% of the players are black making racist remarks about blacks.

It's also not going to be as compelling of a story as getting secretly recorded by your much younger girlfriend, who's obviously dating a bloated belly billionaire because he's a billionaire.

All those things makes it a much more compelling story, not just in a basketball forum, but in the United States.

In the basketball forums, you're also going to get a lot more material, with the tweets of dozens of NBA players, giving the story more legs and even more comments.

Would more people be talking about the Vince Carter game winner if Lebron James and Kobe Bryant, as well as dozens of other players tweeted about it? Probably a little more, but a game winner is not going to cause such a reaction from those players so no more Vince Carter material.

I'm definitely interested in what decision Silver will make. Not so much of what Sterling said as we all know he's got a bad rap sheet for racism and discrimination issues.

Its okay to make a deal out of it, but its stupid to make too big a deal out of it.
