As others have said, this will be the first real test of Adam Silver. He needs to come out with a strong fist against this racist owner. History has shown us that hatred cannot be tolerated and only breeds violence and death.
Let's hope he makes the right move. History will be watching.

My bad on NBATV
His history of racism and discrimination accusations and settlements make this a very interesting decision for Silver.
oh the horror

IMO Donald has shown horrid behavior for years. Now this comes out in the midst of the Clippers trying to make something of themselves in the playoffs?
Adam Silver and the league need to force this man OUT.

He's not an employee of the Clips. He is an owner. What can they do :confusedshrug:

I don't know man. But this is destructive for the organization, and ultimately the league. Sales are going to drop for the Clips if this man is allowed to remain owners. Who is going to buy merch or go to games?
And for the league, how can they allow him to remain an owner and apart of the nba? I'm sure the clipper players don't want to be linked to that shit, nor does Doc.

They didn't do anything when he wrongfully evicted/didn't let hispanics/blacks rent his apartments.
They didn't do anything when he took hookers into the locker room to look at the beautiful black bodies of his toys.
They won't do much now.
I think they'll do something this time. His rap sheet is too long.
Why are they do a media press conference if they're not planning to do anything?
Just don't know how severe the punishment will be.

Thats so unfair to silver. He really doesn't have the power to do anything.
Its like setting the goal for obama to stop russia's annexation of crimea.
Its an impossible goal
Why is there even a press conference about this? :facepalm Sterling instructed his woman on how she was to behave in a personal phone conversation. WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH THE NBA OR THE GAME OF BASKETBALL??
This stuff isn't even ten percent as offensive as some of the stuff he's said in the past.
Silver talking to the press now.

I think it's the right call. The fact that a simple fine was not handed out has me thinking that is is gonna become much, much bigger than most are anticipating.

The fact that a simple fine was not handed out has me thinking that is is gonna become much, much bigger than most are anticipating.Well he has a law degree, so he knows that it's not legal for him to suspend Sterling if it's not written in a legitimate document. Judicial process is the foundation for restoring order in any kind of situation like this.
Give us a rundown
See the two posts above; fpliii and sammichoffate's posts.
He added, a decision could be made in a few days, possibly before the Tuesday game in LA.

nothing interesting, a bunch of legalese to avoid losing lawsuits if they actually do figure out a way to take action against Sterling. says Clippers players should just be focused on the playoffs and everyone trusts the NBA to take care of it.

Give us a rundown
IMO, he basically said nothing.
He wasn't even willing to give the impression that he was suspending sterling, just that they agreed he wouldnt come to games, until this issue was settled.
I think Silver and sterling will secretly agree to terms that will be harsh enough that ppl wont be made at the nba, but wont really affect sterling all that much.
Eg. Suspension + heaviest fine in NBA history.
THey might even take a draft pick.

So they will force this man to sell the Clippers?
:rolleyes:No one knows till the investigation is over
Back 8-9 years ago when Sterling was going through that mess with his tenants, the NBA was still dealing with the after effects of Detroit. So at that point, Sterling's situation wasn't even a concern because they were still trying to eliminate the thug image and a 70 year old racist wasn't the top priority.
Now, we're well past the Malice at the Palace and Sterling's rap sheet is just too long to ignore. Between the hookers in the locker room, his apartments, Elgin Baylor(even though Sterling won the case), and now this; something has to be done. Besides being the tip of the iceberg, this situation is a black eye for the Clippers and the NBA as a whole. Racism cannot be tolerated and the Clippers and the league will lose a ton of money if nothing is done.
Silver isn't going to hand down any punishments now because it's way too early. Still have to sort the information and take it from there. There will be some sort of punishment(banning Sterling from the league, massive fine, etc). This is too big of an issue to let go unpunished. Now that we know it is indeed Sterling in the audio plus his prior incidents, he's going to be massively punished in some way.

that's doing him a favour anyway. He should be FORCED to be at the games as a serious punishment. Dude is basically going to avoid the spotlight by staying away from games.

Ask Paula Deen or Alec Baldwin.
A certain amount of decorum is expected from representatives of a larger corporation. That holds true even for NBA owners.
