...then wouldn't your logic for lebron being better than Kobe in 2009 and 2010 be thrown out the window

so you now know it IS possible for a player to be MVP and not the best.

it just means someone had a more consistant regular season on a top 2-3 team

lebron had 4 years where he was consistant.. more so than anyone. and he got his awards that dont make him a better PLAYER than anyone

lebron = 4 time more consistant regular season performance award

kobe = the man who dominated the playoffs and won finals mvp with no other "NBA" hall of fame player ( only an international contributer at best pau gasol )

and if you dont agree and the mvp means lebron was better period. then durant > lebron

cant have it both ways

i personally know for a fact lebron is better than durant. hell even westbrook is more alpha.

stats lie. consistancy and storylines dont make you the best period

It's completely different because of the stats.

LeBron's stats in the playoffs roflstomp KD's stats this postseason.

Kobe's stats were not trumping LeBron in those postseaons....

so because a guy can beat up on 2-3 rounds of crap and average better numbers while the other guy is facing 4 teams with 50+ wins in all 4 rounds of the 2010 playoffs. then that player who lost had the better run? gtfo

:biggums:

again.. stats are relative to matchups/situations/team mates/ system

No the reason why LeBron stans still say LeBron is better is because Durant's stats are inflated due to chucking + refs. MVP = regular season dominance

Kobe = 1 in 18 years
Lebron = 4 in 11 years

Deal with it Kobrick homers

Very different scenario....

Lebron was more dominant, impactful, he made his teammates better and his game translated to more success as it was very clear to see based on what he had to work with around him compared to Kobe.... there is nobody in NBA history who could exhert that kindof team success with those supporting casts he had.... Lebron had also ALWAYS the better stats (since his 2nd year in the NBA) both in regular season & playoffs.... Kobe also did never coast during the regular season, more like the opposite, he always took more shots than Lebron & went after the MVP etc. (unlike Lebron this regular season compared to KD).... so you cant use that excuse either..... Lebron was eventually the better overall offensive & defensive player than Kobe.... and he most often loved to make Kobe look like a fool during their matchups....

It was just eventually CLEAR as the years went by that Lebron just actually might be a better player but with a much worse supporting cast.... MVPs then started coming one after another....

It was then eventually just very CLEAR that if Lebron EVER got any type of help... at least somebody better than Mo Williams or Boobie Gibson as his sidekick he would guaranteed start spamming championships..... there was no denying it anymore............ he went to Miami.... and look??

ONLY THEN did Lebron officially be called "BEST" by everybody.... Now all of the sudden even the Kobe stans cant deny that he is right now better than Kobe......... why? Just because he got the rings? No, he is the EXACT that player he was in Cleveland but with more help, hell actually some people even argue he was better in Cleveland believe it or not....

See the difference yet?

What an idiot. One major problem with the current MVP voting is the best player does not usually win one. Voters get fatigued and players with less expectations tend to get more votes. James should have won every MVP award since '07 if the award were to reward the best player in the league.

Lol do you know how much better Lebron was than Kobe in 09&10? He was on another level completely. I like Kobe, but come on.

What a dumbB|tch lol just hang yourself you are a fvcking idiot

Don't get emotional. He just disagrees with you about basketball, I don't think that warrants a hanging.

As for OP, you're over-simplifying something that is just not that simple.

First of all, LeBron's all-around statistical dominance vs. Kobe in 2009/10 was much more dramatic than Durant's is vs. LeBron right now.

Also the Cavaliers had a winning record vs. Kobe's Lakers with LeBron, and LeBron had much better h2h stats as well.

Then you have the fact that Kobe was, by consensus, no longer in his prime in 2009/10, whereas we all understand that LeBron is still at the height of his powers.

Everyone who wants to be honest acknowledges that LeBron was coasting through the regular season this year, especially if you watch how magnificent his defense was in the Finals and compare it with how he played on that end this year. That much accounts for the dip in some of his numbers... which are still very comparable to Durant's.

All in all, your argument is moot. You can't just say X won mvps while Y won rings / now Z is winning mvps while X is winning rings, so if X > Y then Z > X ... it's just not that simple.

You'd be right if the MVP was the reason, but it wasn't. He simply was better by this point.
