I would agree with you, but there's this thing called defense.

Lets be honest, he would be a borderline top 10 PG in this PG stacked league. Jeff Teague would be better :facepalm

Big shot would shit on most pg's in this league. Only opinions that are valid are those who watched him play.

a PRIME billups would be top 10 PG easy.

He'd dismantle opposing guards with his post play

Except for one finals series he has achieved nothing... He won't make the HOF :hammerhead:

Show me another pg that recently won it all without having a superstar on the team like Billups did on 05?

That's one more Finals series that cp3 doesn't have.

Iverson was the biggest player in the league at a time. When was billups the face of the NBA?

:facepalm Now Bilups is comparable to Duncan on defence? He is above average but PG defence is the least important of any position... Its ridiculous to compare Bilups to Duncan

You guys understand that Chauncey once put up 19/3/9/1 with tenacious defense, right? He was a terrific point guard.

CP3
Curry
Westbrook

are the 3 that I would definitively take over Chauncey. After that, it becomes debatable.

Billups was definitely better than Reggie Jackson, though

Mr. Big Shot is getting disrespected in this thread. What people forget to realize is how well he ran the team. He always made the right decisions. We know he isn't as athletically gifted as some of these point guards, but he could easy back down most guards. I would chose him to run my team.

I never said that. You tried to use the argument that the most popular player in the NBA, is better then everyone. I then said Duncan has never really been the face of the league.

No what I said was Iverson will only get into the HOF due to popularity and that bilups won't because he has similar achievements to iverson but was never as popular...

Iverson was simply a better and greater player than Billups.

Iverson was 3x All-NBA first team, Billups was one time second team

Iverson got an MVP, Billups wasn't even close

Iverson had statistical seasons that put Billups to shame :coleman:

Iverson isn't getting in because of popularity, he's getting in because he deserves it as much as anyone. First ballot.

Only surefire PG i would take above him right now is Curry, CP3 and WB are debatable though. Billups was a monster in his prime, people forget that unfortunately.

Top 10 Point Guard. Good leader, good floor general, good defender (slightly overrated defender but well above average for his position). You could make a case for Top 5 PG.

Good to see some one not blinded by nostalgia.

Inb4 Russell would have 8 rings in this era :facepalm

Billups would be hard to rank in our current time just as he was hard to rank in his time. This is because much of what made him so good was delivering when it counted despite his stats not seeming elite.

GimmeThat
04-29-2014, 03:22 AM
probably top 15 in the regular season
top 10 in the playoff
(not just PG, but in all positions)

if we are talking impact on a game, especially in the playoffs, I don't see Billups being that far off from the likes of Kidd. With Kidd being the better passer, but Billups the better shooter.

I think if you replace these two players with one another during their championship run, both teams might still end up with a ring.

JimmyMcAdocious
04-29-2014, 03:26 AM
 mr.bigshot he would have 2 rings if it werent for Rasheed Wallace not gaurding Robert Horry.

He would have zero rings if it weren't for Sheed, and the perception of his entire career would be different. He would be the PG who peaked out around 18/8 on ~42% and continued to come up short of a championship. About a 8 year prime of 17/6, low 40 fg.

Kobe/Shaq would each have one more ring. Malone would have his. Payton would have another.
