Nobody wants to vote for him to stay. Imagine the backlash if the votes are made public

They voted behind closed doors WTF are you talking about... if they didn't actually support it that would have been the time to show it :facepalm

To the best of my knowledge, only Jim Dolan came out and made a statement today. I could be wrong about the others...

This. Cuban already voiced against it, but now that it is an official vote, he is changing his tune it seems.

NBA plays a hard ball, which kinda force owners to do the same.

Good for them and whoever gonna reap the benefit after this things ends. Probably these guys:

Silver puts Cuban in a situation that he can't do anything but follow.

what dumb ass owner would publicly come out and say they want sterling to stay? that's basically franchise suicide. :oldlol:

There ya go, case closed. He's done; now it's time to find who'll pony up 1-1.5 bil for the team.

He said hes spoken to people, they have not voted on it. As long as the vote remains private, he will not get the votes he needs in an official procedure.

If the owners votes are public, they will all vote yes.

Don't expect this to go away anytime soon. It's going to get nasty around here.

"Unhappily for the NBA, this means that Donald won’t just accept Commissioner Adam Silver’s lifetime suspension, sell the franchise and go away.

Fox Sports’ Jim Gray spoke to Sterling who refused to be quoted directly just before Silver announced his decision. Characterizing Sterling’s remarks, Gray said, “The team is not for sale. He will not be selling the team.”

Didn't Cuban just say yesterday that he doesn't support a removal, and then went on about a slippery slope and what not? It was on TNT's aftershow.

Just as I stated, Silver plays hardball.

Cuban would not vote against if Silver used lighter punishments than this.

Understood. Silver is going to be great for the NBA. He's way too creepy looking to be that successful, so he must be good at what he does.

No, he said:

1. He doesn't want to be a business partner with someone like Sterling.
2. If Sterling was an employee, he would fire him on the spot.
3. He's uncomfortable with the league forcing out an owner on their own (i.e. without Board approval) over personal views.
4. He totally gets the business side of why to do this, and encourages fans to make the pain on the business side so bad that there's no choice but to force Sterling out.
5. Whether or not he supports a forced sale would depend on the manner in which Silver tried to accomplish that goal.
6. That the precedent that follows this event will be more important than the idiotic views of one stupid, backwards 80-year-old bigot.

It's totally plausible that Silver's measured but firm response on his end, while deferring to the Board for the actual forced sale, completely satisfied Cuban.

In the wake of the decision, many owners have come out with public statements backing Silver

He said he wants Sterling out of the league but is very wary of the precedent they might set by the NBA forcing it to happen. Nothing more than that really.

Yea it will be unanimous. I don't know the bylaws of how they will force him to sell, but no owner will vote with Sterling. That would be suicide in a business sense.

I was thinking earlier that no owner wants to be the only one wh voted to keep him and have it go public.
