This is why you never say something incriminating over the phone to a woman...especially when you are an 80 year old billionaire and she's a 20 something year old gold digging cnut. Everyone already knew donald was racist so I could care less about that. The whole thing about Donald coming into the lock room and bringing bitches in and telling to them look a those "beautiful black bodies" was from Elton Brand...7 years ago. You gotta have no respect for yourself to be sucking and screwing an 80 year old man. He essentially gave 2 million dollars to a prostitute that isn't even that great looking. (she has an ugly face)

It's illegal to record someone in Cali without permission, so she's not going unpunished. Nothing might happen criminally, but she's almost certainly looking at a civil suit.

The massive unknown is whether our not she had permission. The initial tmz report said she did but their reporting is shoddy (the Kapernick incident is being referenced here).

You generally need to have proof of that permission. I worked for an insurance company going through college and when speaking with clients in California, we had to affirm that we had their permission to record the call and that they understood that they were being recorded.

If Sterling wants to extract a pound of flesh from her for this, he's got a case going if he can show that she released these tapes with "malicious intent." He can file suit and load it up with enough motions that all her income will go to fighting the case.

If Tokowitz wants too, which I have no doubt, he's going to slap her with a bunch of Civil Lawsuits, though won't win them all.

Unless the full tape starts out with her letting Donald know it is being recorded, everything is going to come back and harm her. Any money she makes will be paid back in legal fees and more.

NBPA is pushing that no family member be allowed to run the franchise..

As for the lawsuit vs. the woman.. the funny thing about all this is the current suit is by Sterlings wife against his mistress, Sterling is not involved at all, it's been going on for a few months now and Sterling is still hanging out and spending hours on the phone with the woman that his wife is suing...lol

If she doesn't have proof that he gave his approval, then yes. I don't see her being prosecuted in criminal court but she'll have her ass handed to her in civil court and for enough money that she's going to be looking for a bankruptcy attorney right afterwards.

There's a parallel situation in football right now, the Dani Alves bannana thing. The football world is handling it right, by laughing at it, because racism is so f.ucking lame, it deserves to be laughed at.

This isn't wiretapping.. Wiretapping is when a 3rd party secretly listens in on a telephone conversation

No, he was actually correct. Its known as a wiretapping law. Wiretapping constitutes any recording of an individual that is unknown to them. Unless she has recorded proof of him acknowledging that she was recording, she's violated the law. While she likely wouldn't face criminal charges, he would have the ammo to bury her in civil court if he chose to do so.

http://www.dmlp.org/legal-guide/california-recording-law

[quote] [b] California's wiretapping law is a "two-party consent" law. California makes it a crime to record or eavesdrop on any confidential communication, including a private conversation or telephone call, without the consent of all parties to the conversation. See Cal. Penal Code

Her lawyer claims that she had his approval.

Whether or not that is actually true is unknown. I think she tried to blackmail him with the tapes in order to get him to push his wife to drop the embezzlement suit she had going against this woman, when that failed, she simply went for the nuclear option.

If Sterling can prove that she released these tapes without permission and with "malicious intent", her next attorney is going to be a bankruptcy attorney.

In California its especially tough since the laws are so strict on wiretapping. She needs to have his recorded approval for EACH time she recorded him. If she doesn't, it will be bad for her.

Can't generalize Europe.

It's a problem, in some places a big one. Spain, my home country, is one of the worst of the lot, behind Russia. But thing is, it ain't insidious. Difference is there is no race war, racists are idiots, the only people who don't see that in Europe are the racists themselves. No need to fight with idiots.

Germany is one of the most progressive countries in the world. Is racism a problem? yes, but only socially. Institutionally it just isn't, they are much better than us when it comes to human freedoms and equity. They choose to forget the sad events from more than 50 years ago, so should you.

i live in spain and go to la liga matches regularly. i've seen racist chants and incidents every single match. racism is a problem over here but it's not as big of an issue since the population is not as diverse and the minority speaking up would only serve to alienate them than empower them.

laughing off racism is not a solution but a coping mechanism which brings no progress

I have a buddy who works at Fox Sports1 We were talking about this tonight...

Let me preface this by saying he has no contact with the Clippers or anyone in the organization...

that being said the RUMOR or one RUMOR going around is Sterling was having her record the conversations for a book, that's why there's supposedly so many hours of conversation. Secondly as the rumor goes it was somebody in Sterlings camp that released the tapes...

Don't know if I buy it, he's certainly pissed off enough people in his lifetime.. The thing that makes me give it some weight is the fact he was still talking to her despite the current lawsuit against her by Sterlings wife. Sterling is an attorney, as pointed out several times over the last few days he's extremely litigious and well versed on what he should and shouldn't be doing/discussing with a defendant in a civil suit brought by his own family. He had to have a high degree of trust in her to even be taking her calls. He may be a bigot, he may be an asshole but you don't get to be a billionaire attorney by being stupid...

There's a chance this whole thing may take a left turn before its over as far as the people surrounding Sterling
