kobe in the sh*t east since 2001 would have 10+ finals appearences

what does he have to beat? 1 team to make the finals... he'd get lucky against a western team atleast 3-4 times

why do we even make those assumptions... if kobe was drafted by celtics the whole nba landscape would be different...

He'd get spanked repeatedly by the Pistons like he did in 04.

Kobe wouldnt have fit with the Celtics

The Celtics prefer teamwork, effort, intensity, defense and ball movement, instead of chucking, ballhog, no defense, selfish, and arrogance of Kobe

No team in the NBA is entitled to a championship much less multiple championships.

Kobe was a high risk, high reward guy off a high school while Toine was in the NCAA tournament winning Kentucky. Celtics just picked a low risk, okay reward guy.

Shit happens, you could make so many threads like this on players that certain franchises didn't get, you don't know how Kobe would have turned out on the C's/what type of team we could have put around him.

To be fair he was just coming off a National Championship and he wasn't really a chucker until a few years into his career.

Know why we have only 3 championships in the last 30 years?

With Bias coming on in 1986, he would have probably been the 6th man straight away, playing a Cedric Maxwell role. Bird and McHale's minutes would have decreased. Maybe McHale would have opted for surgery instead of playing on that broken foot in 87 had Bias been playing well enough to step into McHale's starting role.

Bird would have hurt his back paving his own driveway regardless. However, his minutes could have been decreased by having Bias on board. Even if Bird started to break down in the same way, bone spurs in his heels in 88, and his back getting worse and worse, he may have still been up to stick around as a deadly spot up shooter due to being able to play with Bias and Lewis. Actually, just remembered an article by Bird saying he would have retired in 1988 had Bias lived.

Even if Bird and McHale ended up injured and nothing else changed other than Bias and Lewis living, they could have been hyper efficient role players teamed with the two new faces of the Celtics before Bird retiring in 1988. The Celtics could have accepted the Mavericks trade in 1988. McHale goes to Dallas for Detlef Schrempf and Sam Perkins.

Just imagine if we had this team for the 88-89 season:
CT: Robert Parish/ Greg Kite
PF: Sam Perkins/ Detlef Schrempf
SF: Len Bias/ Jim Paxson/ Kevin Gamble
SG: Reggie Lewis/ Danny Ainge
PG: Dennis Johnson/ Brian Shaw

That's a championship level team.

Didn't Kobe's punk ass force his way to the Lakers? Celtics didn't want to draft Kobe just to get stuck with Divac.

Kobe needs the most stacked froncourt in the league to win titles. That isn't happening in Boston with Shaq going to LA.
