This is what happens when you use refs to manufacture a superstar out of an average player.

Or maybe the fact that Memphis have done a terrific job of denying him the ball, cutting down his space when he dribbles and keeping him out of the paint. I would love to see his usage rate these playoffs compared to the regular season. You can't be fouled if you don't have the ball.

Let's not act like instead of trying to actually score on drives he isn't constantly tossing the ball in the air and doing this...

The few times he has even been able to get close to the rim on a drive he has tried to draw the foul to no avail. But I haven't even seen once this series where KD has gotten to the rim and actually made a layup or dunk on a drive, and don't say because he doesn't do it. Most of his shot attempts are at the rim.

This is Lebron ala 2011 finals where simply he is just sitting out on the perimeter and not playing his normal game. Half to do with the defense, half to do with his form.

Durant's lack of strength is a big problem in the playoffs. The playoffs are more physical and refs aren't going to be so quick to give bailout calls.

Memphis plays just like most of the eastern conference teams. That grind it out type of game. KD just isn't built for it. His size is why I say he'll never be the best player. Bulk up and that can change.

Maybe his strength is lacking but I haven't really seen anyone on OKC getting to the rack like they usually do, even Westbrook isn't. Memphis has done a great job of shutting down the paint. Only time we were looking good offensively and getting to the paint more regularly was when we went small but we couldn't contain Memphis defensively going small.

The dipshit that wrote this article, Berry Tramel, is still salty because Durant took a shot at him after a dumb postgame question. He also says in that article if Durant doesn't show up tonight, the reaper will be more like the Grim Sleeper.

That is what I am saying. This is the perfect stage for KD, like Lebron in Boston, to go in and have an all-time great performance.

If he can do that and then lead his team to a ring, all will be forgiven.

The difference is.... when has Durant struggled before an actually bounced back?

Lebron did it 07 against the Pistons, 08 against the C's (although in a loss), the whole 2012 postseason, and 2013 game 6/7 against the spurs

not that Durant deserves a pass but if you're a small ass media market, you dont want to chase the biggest sports star in your state outta town.

KD is MVP,Westbrook isn't.

Also Westbrook is likeable while Durant is easy to hate because of his flopping, flailing and choking.

Westbrook >>> KD

Dirk went through this a little bit too. It's great that you're 7' and can shoot it, but if you're not going to use the fact that you're 7' to your advantage, they're gonna defend you with 6'5 dog on a tail types, and you're not making them pay for it. Now you can still be special, because you can shoot over guys, but you're not taking full advantage of you're gifts.

He needs to get into the post more. And if the footwork isn't great, work on it, but in the meantime, take the smaller defender down there and shoot turnarounds.
And worse than that, the coaching staff should be finding ways to get him down there. Demanding that he gets down there. Designing stuff to help him get down there when he's clearly being bothered by a smaller defender running him down around screens.

I've never liked what I've seen out of Brooks. This series has just been a reinforcement of that.

GimmeThat

If he leaves because of some criticism fair or not then he's mentally weak. A bigger market would eat him alive.

He's a superstar, he can play in any market. Big, small, wherever.

It's OKC that needs him more than he needs them.

NYC, LA , Chicago, Boston can chew athletes out on a daily basis because they know their teams have enough revenue and marketability to bring in big name players. All of those big cities also have at least 4 different teams in other sports to keep their press going.

Small market has to be a little more careful when dealing with their teams and star players. That's where I'm getting at. I can't question KD and how he would be in a big market, he's never played in a major city. Not in college, not in the NBA.
