View Full Version : Who is BLACK and who is WHITE ... tired of these threads, here are the facts...

Another thread popped up today, "is Tony Parker Black?" The other day it was is "is Matt Barnes Black?" Lets clarify something, in this country, rightly or wrongly, if anything close to 1/2 of your parentage is Black, you are referred to as "Black." That includes birth certificate, death certificate, census data, passport, etc.
Here are some examples of Black dudes:
1. Blake Griffin
2. Matt Barnes
3. Steph Curry
4. Klay Thompson
5. Austin Rivers
6. Carlos Boozer
7. Darrin Williams
8. Jason Kidd
9. Kris Humphries
10. Tony Parker
11. Tim Duncan
12. Michael Beasley
13. Joakim Noah
14. Shane Battier
15. Tyshaun Prince
16. Gerald Green
17. Danny Greene
18. Aaron Gordon (future top 10 pick in this draft)
19. Shabazz Napier - could be wrong here as he might be Dominican (future draft pick - this draft)
20. Brandon Roy (R)
21. Kenny "Sky" Walker (R)
** And I am sure I am forgetting a number of people
This sh*t should not matter. Especially in today's world but with all these threads popping up (and with questions inside the threads), time we got it straight. If a dude does not look typical Caucasian, there is a good chance that he is "Black"... especially in the game of basketball. And for these dudes, they are Black as much as anyone. Because society treats them that way, and because 9 times out of 10 that is who they identify with.
For instance Blake Griffin was out with Deandre Jordan and a couple of other brothers/players and referred to it as, "the brothers, hanging out." Ask him if he is Black or White, and his long version answer might be, "Black father, White mother... blah blah blah." His typical short answer will be, "I am Black." Just like President Obama would say... another person of mixed parentage who has been quoted as identifying himself as "African American" because that's how the world views him. This is how the world views them and this is the racial group who they are most often "unconditionally" accepted by.
And sometimes, both parents are Black -- as in the case of Step Curry -- but the kid comes out light skinned. Happens all the time in the Black community.
And make no mistake, these type of brothers (bi-racial or just light skinned) have to be just as hard and sometimes harder than their darker skinned brothers. Why? Because they are often tested. And they often feel like they have to prove that they belong. For instance, Malcolm X (one of the most hardest and most radical of Black men) had reddish hair and light skin, his nickname was "Red." Fredrick Douglass was bi-racial. W.E.B. Dubois, Booker T. Washington, etc. --- freedom fighters --- all bi-racial and people who paved the way for Martin Luther King. All brothers. All the same. This testing thing is not so bad today but there was a time when it was. And even back when... back when loyalty was tested... they were still ACCEPTED within the Black community.
Take a look at the list... those brothers are BLACK.

You're wasting your time typing that nonsense. You are what you identify to be. My wife is part native American - she does not tell everyone she's a native. SHe identifies as white because she has no experience with the native culture. She brings it up when asked about her background, but all this trying to put people in a damn box is ridiculous.

If you are even 1% black, you are definitely not white.

Lots of those guys, although have a parent that is black, are white. Griffin, Humphries, Kidd, Battier, etc. are not black, please gtfo. Neither is Barnes, more Hispanic than anything. A drop is not all you need, you gotta be majority black. Thompson looks like that white dude who has a black dad and tells everyone he's black.

Apes, not monkeys. Before our ancestors lost their body hair, we all had white skin :D As we lost our body hair, our skin changed to black. Then some of us left for cooler climates and our skin changed back to white again. We are all the same.

Let's be honest. Your "race" is more determined by the culture you grew up with than your genetics.
