View Full Version : Annoying kids calling me dad on the court

So after pullin a few sweet moves at the local outdoor courts on some guys my own age, now I get the occasional random young teen sayin shit like "hey dad, what time are we having dinner tonight." Or "yep, that's my dad." :wtf:
Our outdoor courts tend to have people playing ages 15-40.
They do this in an attempt to get recognition from their friends. Probably don't even know who their real father is. Last thing I need is my wife hearing some shit like this or child services at my door. It doesn't help that the older guys raise questions like "oh, that skinny little Asian kid your kid? (I'm not Asian) "Is he on the school team?" and shit like that.
Anyone else have this problem with the local teens trying to be the cool kid at the park making other kids think that your their dad because you be bustin them ankles at the courts?
Before you know it their moms will be at the court baking pies saying shit like "go give this to your father." :wtf: :facepalm

Me and my younger brother have done this to our older brother before for kicks and giggles, but I can see how it would get really annoying.

Just go with it man, if your wife falls for that shit, you got bigger problems. Child services have real issues to be chasing, they're not gonna worry bout some old dude getting called dad by random kids on the play ground.
I balled with a dude we all called father, which has now lead to calling him father time as dudes old as but still gets the job done at a great rate.

Man, this is what gets to you? I agree, they shouldn't look up to you as a father figure if this makes you come to ISH cryin'.

It makes it so much sweeter when you school them after receiving that nickname. I recently had a kid getting on his brother because I was showing him up. The younger brother comes over and points to me saying "how can you let someone like him school you, look at his belly compared to you." Obviously I wasn't thrilled about the comment, but the kid was right I was bigger and in worse shape than the other. But I laughed it off and continued to play hard against both boy mainly out of spite.

This is the funniest part. You'd expect it to be some routine fatherless black kid but instead it's an Asian kid.
What kind of Asian kid grew up without a father? :oldlol:
Oh, shit. I did. Pops left me and mama when I was 8. :cries

I like this. If you got the last bucket, instead of yelling game time, yell bed time. That'll get the young blood to stfu.

I keep imagining OP getting pissed af, IM NOT YOUR DAD!! STOP CALLING ME DAD, SOMEONE MIGHT TAKE YOU SERIOUSLY AND THEN WHAT?!?!?

Chill out pops, really not that big of a deal. There is no ending it as you have allowed it to go on for far too long, you could of ended this easily in the beginning. Kid says that you're his father, you kindly explain to him although you sleep in the same bedroom as his mom, you are not the biological father. But because it has been going on for years, embrace it and make it funny in a less insulting way. Or, and this one is far fetched...maybe try a different court?

There's a "pops" at every park probably. It either comes from someone bringing along his son and everyone picks up on calling him that, or he's just an older man. We got a pops at our park, his son is pretty good and so is he. Think Jason Kidd smarts without the height or athleticism (yes Kidd had some lol).
Embrace it, because he has.

Let's be honest, everyone remembers that older guy coming down to play ball.
I always looked up to them when I was growing up as a kid, even though realistically he was probably slow and not as skilled as he once was.

True back in the day there was this 50 yr old white guy exactly 6'0 and he used to give everybody the business. I cringe thinking how elite he was back in his prime because this dude had complete offensive game

I remember seeing a dude like that playing pickup at my school gym. He was matched up against one of my friends, and even though he had next to no speed/athleticism left, his repertoire of post moves was insane.

I had the opposite problem when I was a kid, this older man used to come down to the park and call me son and try to take me home with him. I guess I was a handsome child.

I went to play ball today. I asked some people to guess my age. One said 18. And then since I made it seem they were way off, they then guessed 25. Told them I was 22.
