Which one has your vote? Me personally, I have to go with the Heat/Mavericks game. Wade being sent to the free throw line again, and again, and again, and again, and again... After the game, I sat back and thought, what just happened....

Game 7 2000 Western Conference Final Portland Trail Blazer vs Los Angeles Lakers

In the deciding game of the Western Conference Championships June 4 in The Staples Center. With the series tied at three wins each, the Trail Blazers were leading the host Lakers, 73-58, early in the fourth quarter then were outscored, 31-11 in the last 11 minutes and lost, 89-85. The Trail Blazers took 16 FTA the Lakers took 37 FTA . The Trail Blazers top defensive players Arydas Sabonis & Scottie Pippen both fouled out. In the fourth quarter every call was in favor of the Lakers.

Both of Sabonis 5th & 6th fouls were terrible calls, both came on blocking calls. When Portland lost Sabonis they had to go to Brian Grant, who at 6'8" was too small to play key minutes at center against Shaq.

Game 6 2002 Western Conference Final Sacramento Kings vs Los Angeles Lakers

In all the Lakers took 27 foul shots in the fourth quarter. With Sacramento up 3 games to 2 this rigged game prevented them from advancing to the NBA Finals. For the game the Lakers took 15 more FTA both Scott Pollard & Vlade Divac both fouled out on plays where they did not even touch the Laker player.

" too many of the calls in the fourth quarter were stunningly incorrect , all against Sacramento. I have never seen officiating in a game of this consequence as bad as that in Game 6." - Michael Wilborn Washington Post

Game 5 2006 NBA Final Miami Heat vs Dallas Mavericks

In total Wade went to the foul line 25 xs, There were 5 separate fouls on Wade in which he was never touched. The internet bloggers refer to them as the Phantom Fouls. Miami as a team went to the line 49 xs to Dallas 25 xs. Dallas finished with 6 more field goals 11 more rebounds & lost the game by one. Both of Dallas low post defenders were in foul trouble Diop fouled out Dampier finished with 5 fouls.

And, as if you needed proof, here was one of those Phantom Fouls

How come nobody ever mentions game 5 of the Sac/LA series in threads like this? Oh yeah, because the reffing was for Sac instead of LA and nobody cares about the Kings.

Also add game 7 of the 2010 Finals. Free-throw after free-throw for the Lakers.

Yeah. Of course I was going for Indy so I didnt say anything, but this is the first time I ever looked at the box score, and, wow...

But why would the league want Indy to beat NYC?

Thats a pretty interesting video if you have 15 minutes to spare...

In the video, it discusses how the league spent so much effort propping Jordan up to be the alpha and omega of basketball, that when he retired, ratings plummeted. It was bad for basketball, bad for ratings, and bad for revenue, so now, its a much 'safer' play to spread out the "superstar" tags to several players in the event one doesn't play (Rose, Kobe) or retires (say, Duncan, Kobe again, Dirk, Nash, etc), then fans have other stars to root for.

It also brings up how officiating affects games, maybe not to the point where it decides a winner, but it keeps the games artificially close to create suspense. I can totally see that happening.

Game 1 2012 Eastern Conference 1st round New York Knicks vs Miami Heat

AKA the fire extinguisher game, this is the most blatant rigging I've ever seen in my life. After the 2011 Finals lebron debacle, Stern had no intentions of letting them play, the script was written on stone. The first Heat game in the playoffs was the strongest statement I ever saw from Stern.

Also add game 7 of the 2010 Finals. Free-throw after free-throw for the Lakers.

Yep that was one of the most rigs. Kobe benefits from 3 of the most rigged games of all time.....big market bias.

Also there were some very rigged games against Miami in the 2013 finals.

Jesus, I don't remember that many free throws

I too completely forgot about that one. Holy shit I remember thinking that it was rigged for weeks after I saw it. Felt like the most rigged game I had seen in a while. Also, that GSW vs Lakers game where the FT disparity was 50-16, helping the Lakers sneak into the playoffs. Unfortunately for the league, Kobe tore his achilles in that game and they got swept by the Spurs.

They didn't. There was no bias. The Pacers were pounding the ball inside, and the Knicks were shooting all jumpshots. That's where free throw disparities like that come from.

No one ever mentions the Twolves/Lakers Game 3 in 2003. That was without a doubt one of the most rigged games ever in favor of the Lakers and the funny thing is the Twolves overcame several blatant calls against them and still won in OT. It was a HUGE black on eye on the league considering the calls that went against Sac the year before in the Lakers/Kings series.

Edit: Found an old article on that game.
