Amar'e cant play defense.

Amar'e, Bran, Wade, Melo were inexperienced.

Marbury is crazy.

Don't act like the Argentines were scrubs. Manu and Scola are very good. Nocioni and Oberto (pre-heart problems) were solid role players. Pepe was a really good 4 year PG from Temple.

Because Manu Ginobli is the best 1.5 guard of all time.. He can facillitate and score and he willed the Argetininans to a gold medal. Give him his props!

weren't Lebron, Wade and Melo all rookies? can't put much blame on them if that's the case. failure rests on the seasoned vets plus the AI/Marbury case could be a factor

To be fair, IIRC, Larry Brown hardly played Lebron. He hardly played Wade and Melo, too. I think it was mostly Iverson and Marbury jacking up shots.

First of all the ball was in A.! and Marbury hands too much, They arnt real PG. second of all Dwade Lebron and Melo were all young coming into the league. They werent that impactful. Duncan was the best player on the team at the time and he was playing good defense but the team wasnt. Our chemistry wasnt there either.

It's hilarious reading haters post about LeBronze, they obviously never saw those Olympic games (or were out of diapers yet). Lebron only played 3 minutes against Argentina.

LMAO @ the excuse making on Duncan's behalf.

When much lesser talked about, or revered players such as the despised Marbury and Iverson thoroughly outplayed expectations on several occasions.

We lost due to lack of defense, lack of shooters, lack of passing, not taking things seriously, Duncan playing well below expectations as that teams best player.

Also, LeBron, Melo, and Wade were all essentially rookies and Larry Brown doesn't play young guys much to begin with.

I really thought about this one,

especially with the whole era argument.
essentially basketball became an international sports, and many different style had been developed. Without watching the Euroleague I would even still say that the Euroleague is most likely different than NCAA hoops as well.

When you really think about how a basketball player when going pro has to adjust to the NBA rule, but also have to adjust to the Olympics rule.

We realized that if you don't know the rules, you can't win games. Essentially we were beat by technicalities.

You don't win championships with a midget who chucks the ball like no other. AI and Marbury were the reason why they lost.

Rookie LeBron, Wade, and Melo. Boozer, Okafor, Marion, and Amar'e weren;t that good either.

Tim Duncan was on that 2004 team and never played on the us team ever again.

I swore I read somewhere he was quoted as he didn't like FIBA rules and wouldn't play under those rules again.

I remember during those games ISH was raising hell about Brown not playing Lebron and Melo enough. They played less minutes combined than Marion, Odom, or Richard Jefferson. Brown had the team walking it up with some of the best athletes on the planet on the bench.
